This video was brought to you by a Battery planner cam power Marcus Beale Steinberg and Bill componente Yo what's up when I'm in Austin behind Me here you see mg4 a long range and in This video I'm going to try to drive it Down until it stops to see what happens So I've done an mg that was the empty Marvel and it stopped right around zero Percent many many cars I test with this One they will usually go maybe 10 20 30 Kilometers below zero so yeah it's going To be a difference here I in general I Don't test every model from each brand Because they tend to act the same they Tend to have the same drivetrain battery But this one seems to be different than The other MGS I tried so here you see The setup Once we run out we have I present to you ecoflow Delta Max two Of them this one is the main unit this Is a slave unit two kilowatt hour each They've been charged to I don't remember But almost full are mostly full and then We have some safety equipment here So um yeah I'll just get going I'll show That I have tried to drive the car alone We actually did not charge it after 1000 Kilometer challenge so we have 13 right Now 47 kilometers of range and here we Have car scanner it reports almost the Same it supports 12 or whatever but okay Let's start driving it low then and then

This time I will end up at Ikea because It's now What's the time where's the clock or is That okay it's uh almost midnight well 11 24 at night Okay we're now near IKEA and we're down To one percent two kilometer left Uh but the display doesn't have any Power limit indicator Uh or I can feel it slower but other Than that there is no visual indication That we have limited power except for That there was a warning here yeah but That was just a warning about some Turtle mode or I don't know do we have Dark mode yet nope okay let's try a Little bit more Around here before we uh get into Ikea Now we are inside the Ikea parking lot So it's fairly safe to stop here and This is after closing hour Or after opening hours or whatever Whatever but uh look here we got the Message wait wait where does it go now What there was a message here about low Power uh stop immediately but we still Have power Now we came oh okay it came back okay Yeah so I mean we can still drive Apparently Even though it says one percent left and And two kilometer left so I will just Drive around Circle here until it shuts Down but I suspect that this one should

Be like uh Marvel and it doesn't have That much buffer like how many kilowatts Do we have let me see here Oh there's still plenty of power oh wow 49 kilowatt apparently okay uh oh okay Oh wait we have zero percent but one Kilometer left Um okay let me uh Let me dry a little bit more until we Have zero column before I uh before I Reset okay it bugs me about this okay Okay yeah a little bit more a little bit More Okay There okay wait um now we need to reset How to do this From last charge from Star okay let me Reset this one Okay and now we see how many kilometers Past zero can we drive okay well Can we get rid of that message but okay Let me see let me test something here So we're at zero percent on display Zero percent on car scanner how many Kilowatt do we get Uh actually me let me record this one And sync it in okay Zero percent You can see here Well the a truck is running okay that's Cool 45 kilowatt 48 wow I barely legal over here okay Wait does it mean that this one actually

Has a buffer versus the the mg Marvel And possibly maybe a set tests or the Other MGS Um Okay let's see then let's drive a little Bit more and see when it stops We've been driving around here at the Parking lot for a while now and you see 7.5 kilometers done now and 12 and this Is roughly one kilowatt hour below zero So it seems to be different than other Mg I tried well at least one the the MD Marvel with stopped at around zero but Most other cars are tested just like I Mentioned they actually have a buffer Below zero maybe it's because So it's like a psychological thing that If you Drive to zero and you miscalculate you Can always get you get it will always Get you to the destination yeah but then Not many people Uh will dare to go below zero especially Because you don't know how much you have Versus when you have more than one Percent or more yeah So maybe it's protect the battery maybe Is to catch some hot shots or some People clumsy people So yeah I'm not sure what is the best solution To stop exactly at zero kilometers zero Percent or do you have a buffer But we are now wandering in the unknown

To find out how deep is your buffer yeah Man we've been driving around here for 48 minutes uh New York I'm getting dizzy Man each round is only around 100 200 meters and we are done 20.5 kilometers below zero so Oh First I was driving in One Direction For a good half an hour now I just turn Around and try the other direction Boat like that you know I mean this car Doesn't ride like a boat but you know When you get that constant Rotation or or yeah I have a headache though But I have to find out must find out how Deep is your buffer I can't stop now but I almost feel like I want to puke soon Oh you sometimes you guys have no idea How much I sacrifice Oh my well-being for doing tests like This to figure out The stuff oh Okay let's keep going Finally oh man Oh oh it says power limited I have some Turtle mode let me get in a good Position you want to turn around here Okay get on one of the side one of the Longer runs okay Yeah by the way you see when you have Okay exposure there Um this screen is way too bright at Night I have to turn it down like this

And you can see something here but then Then look how dark it yeah okay Um Whoa Okay We have something here I think we are getting close to the end Because now it becomes almost undriable It says limited speed Okay Wait wait no no It's just limited power I think I think It's not is it power limit or speed Limit here let me see Let's look at this one wait How much power do we have Oh it's a neocol it's a new crawl six Kilowatt the thing is about to die Finally Okay okay But we can still crawl that's the thing You know we can still crawl Oh but it goes slow well actually let me See now if I try to build up momentum Okay So oh sorry so I'm holding okay let's See if I try to just floor it kind of Ish okay well it seems to does it limit The speed no it claims there was a Message that disappeared it claims that It limits the speed but it seems like no Speed is not limited it's power that is Limited so Um yeah if you can just keep adding six

Kilowatt you can't actually go fairly Fast but okay this is just like a new Crawl but at this point I might want to Uh bail out or okay let's draw a little Bit more That's it I felt in dunk And now I'm gonna floor it nothing Happens Zero kilowatt here this is it The car is dead DED Okay now we just have to okay okay but At least it goes into some kind of Neutral even though it is in drive so Now you just have to maneuver the car Into place and yeah not try to if in Case you were on a public road you see Do I get any power along and then what's Gonna happen there was no no final Warning no audible warning no nothing it Wasn't it wasn't saying like this is it You know pull over safely or anything Like that so So it goes from Neo crawl to Neutral Or the power you see there is just HVAC I can turn off HVAC you will see that it Should be almost zero See Um now it's this is the final this is The is it Oh finally oh [ __ ] wait then what Is the coin neutral Okay You know there's a red battery icon

There oh that was it the contactor open Oh Let me check something here If we have Oh yeah I heard a Zoop okay if I put it In I can put it in neutral that was on The chest so you can put the neutral can I okay it goes back to can we try here If I put it in neutral There can I pull can I push it forward Oh okay it's too heavy okay whatever Yeah the battery is dead DED here you See the final start to final oh man I'm So dizzy now 23.8 the car is super Efficient when at low speed yeah so this Is it okay now let's bring out the Ecoflow All right we are charging now so um Let's check here this is the main unit It's output in 2.1 kilowatt it's Receiving 1.1 roughly from the slave battery Yeah this one is at 78 battery instead Of charming this one is 99 and then Let's check here This is uh a shuku charging cable from a Vehicle very useful because it shows you It means oh sorry Okay Assuming you can see your data here you See This car is pulling only 9.1 amp So it's charging a little bit slow too Kilowatt only

Starts on this session well over one Hour plus uh 13 14 minutes on the Previous one so You see now we input two point yeah so Roughly two and a half kilowatt hour has Been pipped into the car Mine is charging loss so at least two Kilowatt hour into the battery Can we drive now then let's unplug and Test see I can just do this Okay Let's see Wait I didn't see that battery icon Thing Oh yeah now we're cooking Okay let me see Can I Oh yeah wait how many kilowatt do we Have Oh Flint the juice Okay okay let me go get the battery We're now at the fast charger And yes we have one percent What it's bugging me that I have level Of zero charge but we are charging Okay oh yeah now we have a range okay Okay But strange enough we are only getting 100 amp 35 36 kilowatts from this charger maybe Because this charger is partly kaput I'm Not sure it's just an ABB but these Chargers supposed to deliver 100 125 amp

So um Yeah but Maybe from time to time there's uh some Fault in some of the power modules so Would be interesting to try some other Ones but whatever yeah it's just a 50 Kilowatt But if I try to summarize how well did The mg4 do it in this test what am I Looking for here okay let me see Um normally I'm looking for some kind of Power meter you know like adopted line Or something a power I mean power limit There was no power limit here that's Minus Um okay the power went down gradually For a little bit But then it stopped at 48 kilowatt for a Long time and I was driving around here It was just 48 so that's also a minus it Should be more gradual and then at one Point it dropped to 45 kilowatts just Okay and then suddenly he went to the I Call it the new crawl where we have only Six kilowatt Flats uh that one is okay Because it's like a final warning once You get that six kilowatt you can still Drive uh I don't remember how long ago But let's say at least a kilometer or Two so that's like the final warning for You like okay if you see this get Somewhere safely and then but then uh When it finally shut down uh you didn't Also didn't get any final warning I just

Suddenly you just went into neutral and You're just rolling so that was also a Little bit minus uh and also another Thing I'm looking for is that when you Charge the car uh can you just if you Input 100 watt hour can you suddenly Drive and I'll put 100 watt hours no That's also minus so uh it seems like You have to charge more than enough to Get this out of the unlocks you have to Unlock the batteries amount so that's Also not good Um yeah but at least now it works so uh How did this car do it Um It didn't take all the right boxes That's what I'm saying yeah but this Didn't stop right at zero percent so but Is that a good thing or bad thing I think that's going to be it for now I Hope you guys enjoyed this video as Always thank you for watching and talk To you later

In 2021, more than 16 million electric cars went on the road worldwide, avoiding over 30 terawatt-hours of oil consumption and carbon dioxide emissions—that’s about the amount of electricity generated in Ireland each year. EVs use about half as much energy to travel the same distance as gasoline cars.

EV owners enjoy lower fueling and maintenance costs, as well as access to high-speed charging stations and Clean Air Vehicle decals that let drivers use the busiest commuter lanes. And they produce zero tailpipe emissions, which is good for the climate and local air quality. Even when powered by coal-dominated grid electricity, electric vehicles still deliver better global warming performance than gas cars, and many EV owners are also pairing their vehicles with rooftop solar panels and home energy storage.

Ford and GM have been working to make electric iterations of their popular Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, as well as the Fusion, Equinox, and Blazer SUVs. GM is also working on an all-electric version of its Cadillac XT6 crossover and a Bolt EUV.

The federal government is supporting EVs with tax credits that can be applied to the purchase or lease of new and used EVs, as well as to installation of residential and commercial charging infrastructure. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Act also provides support for domestic production of battery cells and batteries and for a coast-to-coast network of EV chargers, especially in areas where people travel long distances.
