This video was brought to you by Steinberg a better world planner Mr Green Camp power and Marcus Beale Yo what's up we're now in front of the House in chengdao and behind me here you See Volvo xc40 and today it is actually Sunday just show you here And we're going to do Sunday driving With it yes so like always uh every time I want to swap press cars I have to Drive this all the way from the North in Thailand to the south in Bangkok and Then swap to leave tomorrow oh it's a 40 Kilowatt hour Leaf it should rapid gate Massively but okay anyway now we're Going to do this one so I have charged The car to 100 and okay Um the the thing is that this car Charger is really slow to 100 so I don't Want to waste too much time so that's Why I charge here but over here in Chengdan we are at high higher elevation Than for the South so I will compensate With that I've done the math already I Think we have roughly 350 meter of Downhill where elevation change let me See here and that means that it's two Kilowatt hour Advantage so we will Actually correct for that it should be Roughly four watt hour per kilometer Yeah so um yeah we can we always ABC Always be correcting so we will see how Far can we go the model y managed to go 550 kilometers after some corrections

Will this one go further it has a bigger Battery than the model y Railroad Drive We shall see [Music] Foreign We are now at the super highway this is The main road that leads all the way to Bangkok it's so uh yeah this time I Chose a route that was it's called the 700 Highway that one is non-stop so we Don't have to go via some stoplight so That was nice and smooth and right now The consumption is 144 watt hour per kilometer wow you have Never seen a Volvo have this low Consumption before but remember that we Are in Thailand and this car is the Thai Can so I think it's time to say ionic Five go home not classic ionic Force Because that one will work yeah okay Anyway Now I'm just kind of drafting behind This uh mini truck but I will go faster This is way too slow man [Music] We are now at the bank Jack station here Outside of lampang and yeah you see There are the PA Charters today I would Not charge there I could have plugged in There and maybe charged for just five Minutes I just needed to go to the Restroom And then I wanted to see if there is any Snack over here but this Mart here this

At the gas station like oh yeah I just Want to stop my car over here by the by The main road and then buy some clothes Okay okay let me do my regular stuff Here the ball will just be sitting here Doing nothing [Music] Foreign [Music] For Over six hours This trip feels really long but okay Anyway we have now done 366 kilometers And we are still at yeah 139 watt hour But remember that I'm going to Compensate for the elevation change so We actually have to uh how is this we Have to add roughly four or five Kilowatts now four or five watt hour per Kilometer I'll double check again with All the numbers eventually but you see One interesting thing I noticed during The trip is that Google or I mean the Car or Google will estimate how many Percent we will arrive with but that one Is based on that we drive at the speed Limit uh so yeah right now it claims That I will arrive at with 10 but I will Most likely ride with 15 but I can Simply not go past this point because Then there is nothing here until we are At nakonsawan which means that I kind of Need to stop there yeah we don't have a Tron on charges like we have in

Europe unfortunately We're now in company so this is it now I Have decided to drive a little bit past The charger actually there's a Volvo now Charging at the charger because you have To share it so we will just test Um you see because we have 15 here as we Pass here and I wasn't sure whether I Should just go for it the charge here or Wait but some people requested me to go Deep I was like okay okay let's go deep Then always go deep and then we get the More accurate result because the state Of chart is both to drop faster towards The end and I guess we want to see what Happens when we uh go close to zero Percent or at least two three percent Right so since I don't have any Eco flow Over here Uh oh yeah okay so what we're gonna do Now is just to drive further south and Then we you turn and then go back to That charger All right we're now heading back to the Alexa charger but anyway Um now the car estimates that we will Arrive with three percent which is close Enough it's pretty good that it Estimates four minutes I don't have to Do all the ninja calculation but already At eight percent We get the turtle mode or tortoise mode Low battery and it's actually quite Significant power limit we have roughly

I don't know how much is about 30 power Left So uh let me see does it feels like oh The car feels sluggish now oh but Okay no big deal because at least we Don't have a speed limit like the Cut so all right you have to go for it Back to the charger Well we're almost done now and then you Know as a as a comparison to the the the Model y rear wheel drive we tested with The lfp battery that one even at low Really lows to the charge then it was Blistering fast here you see the power Limit here Okay we're gonna see how slow it is oh I'm I'm flooring it I'm flooring it oh oh it's so slow oh Oh interesting at three percent we now Have red battery bar or thing but you Know it seems like the they have changed The the scale here so it used to drop Like a rock towards the end but now it's Actually more linear so at least that's Good yeah that's good We're here at the LX Charter finally yes We could have made it here earlier but I Just want to go deep to see what happens So it was a little bit semi-scary ish Because it was kind of sluggish towards The end but at least now the battery Should be nice and warm because we don't Colgate in Thailand let me check here we Are now yeah look at that oh yeah we're

Is a b c always bring King Pickled ginger I already like gingers I Mean I always like pickled stuff like Pickle cucumber And uh yeah it was right down my alley But anyway the result of the Sunday Driving it's still Sunday after all Um okay so according to the the distance We draw Now versus the the consumption And everything with three percent left I Can then estimate that we have 74.8 Kilowatt hour net capacity that's Actually 0.2 kilowatt hour lower than When they did the range test but I Suspect that the range test Um there might be a little bit of a Measurement error but I did actually Idle the car for maybe five ten minutes Earlier today just standing still and Also when we are well actually I'm not Sure how it counts if it counts when We're idling just like that I'm not sure But okay anyway it's not that big of a 200 watt hour program is just one one And a half kilometer anyway but Um also remember this morning I told you About the the elevation change or the Elevation Advantage we also have to take That in account I'm not going to double Check something just to see how this we Started at 370 meter over sea level and You see we are now at around 15 17 yeah So based on that we we have roughly two Kilowatt hour of uh of uh elevation

Advantage so what you have to do is then Take the two kilowatt hour divided by The distance we draw which is 518 Kilometers and that becomes four watt Hour per kilometers then we have to take The 140 that displaces and we have to Count it as it was 144. What our per kilometer and then we Calculate everything based on that and Then that's how I ended up as well as a Result and then this case here was Actually slightly better than the the Front wheel drive xc40 in Norway but we Had better weather here so yeah I think This is still a legit test and also it Seems to be very close to the Norwegian Um Sunday driving so I think actually This is a valid Sunday driving test we Can do in Thailand and also the weather Here is very predictable at least this Time of the year so um but um you see That even this thirsty beast here with Bigger battery than the model y Rebel Drive the model y managed to go further Because it had incredibly low Consumption just think about this in the Range test this this xc40 consumes more At 90 kilometers per hour than model y Consumes at 120 kilometers per hour Okay anyway but um the trip is not done The test here is done but we still have To go to Bangkok so yeah let's see how It uh how the status is right now then Hey what the heck this country is

Incorrect we charge more than one hour About one hour and five minutes roughly But you see it starts going quite slow Now past 90 it goes dog slow but Whatever the reason why I was here kind Of long because I had to clean the Windscreen I'm shooting video and also There was a guy here with a pickup truck And the Thai guy he asked me lots of Questions about the EV how much uh how What is the price how far can it go uh Everything service cost Charging costs everything so I I was Spending a little bit of time talking to Him and then that okay so now I guess We'll just drive I'm not sure how far we Can drive but we can drive quite far uh We I think we can even reach Bangkok but I have to charge one more time because I Will return the car tomorrow and I don't Want to have it too low battery so I'll Just figure out somewhere I will charge Somewhere here I guess All right we're on the move and this Time we are not slow poking yeah we Charge actually so much that I can we're Gonna go 270 kilometers now I've calculated that We have a budget of around 250 watt hour Kilometer and the consumption is going To be high on this leg we will try to Cruise at 120 which is 117 uh what 117 Kilometers per hour roughly so all right Let's enjoy the hammer time then back to

Germany Back to Bangkok yes Foreign [Music] Foreign Charger 125 kilowatt Delta Yeah you know car can receive 150 Kilowatt but uh at least for now we Don't have 150 available in Thailand Most places but okay so um the next or The final stop for today is going to be The hotel the same Hotel I started from Where I ended up with at with the with The Tesla by the way yeah that's usually How it is um but okay so I estimated That I need to spend 17 my own Calculation by there 17 the way I did it Is I look at how much we spend here Average consumption and then I take this One and multiply by the distance and Then find out we need 13 kilowatt hour Or something like that and then I Divided by the the net capacity of the Battery which is 75 kilowatt hour and Then I figure out that we need 17 so but I don't remember I actually I don't know This press car uh there was there was a There was a contract I signed when I Picked it up everything was in Thai so I Don't know uh this was from Volvo Thailand and if they have any policy That the the Press car should be turn With more than I don't know 80 battery Or I'm not sure but at least if I can

Until now, the DOT’s public charging network is relatively underdeveloped. A lack of public charging options has discouraged private sector investment. To address this, the NYC DOT is working with other agencies and partners to develop a comprehensive and robust plan for EV adoption.

While the EPA gives EVs a highway and city range rating, the true range of a car will depend on the type of roads and speeds that you drive. If you plan to cover long distances, you should plan for a substantial buffer between your EPA combined rating and your actual range.
