Battery-powered electric cars don’t require oil changes, spark plug replacements or timing belt replacements. They have simpler maintenance requirements and are cheaper to operate.

There are many different types of EVs, including those that are powered by nuclear energy. However, some models are available only in certain states.
Those who want to drive long distances should be aware that the EPA separates highway and city range ratings for EVs. In general, a higher kilowatt-hour (kW) battery has a longer range than a lower kW battery.
Range is important because it determines whether an EV can cover the necessary amount of distance for a daily commute. Short-range EVs can perform well during start-and-stop driving during rush hour. Similarly, long-range EVs are suitable for inter-city travel.
Several cities offer tax incentives and other financial benefits to those who purchase an EV. Some offer reduced or free tolls, and others may offer import duties.
