Electric City Vehicles

Unlike gas-powered cars, electric city vehicles don’t require oil changes, tune-ups or regular service. They also save you money in the long run. Electric cars are also good for the environment. They are clean and reduce emissions. They are fun to drive, too.

Some EVs have fast charging capabilities, allowing you to fill up on the go. EVgo has over 850 charging stations throughout the country. There are also solar versions that can add up to a third of a battery charge per day.

The latest EVs have a range of more than 300 miles. But, the most efficient ones can cover more than 400 miles between charges.

A typical EV uses between 30 and 40 kilowatt-hours of electricity per 100 miles. In addition to the batteries, most electric vehicles are equipped with regenerative braking systems, which recoup energy from the vehicle’s braking. Regenerative braking reduces the need for conventional brakes and saves on maintenance costs.

Regenerative braking also collects energy from coasting. This energy is stored in the battery and recharged when the vehicle slows down.

Regenerative braking is a great way to reduce the dependence on gas engines. It also allows the electric vehicle to operate efficiently and safely. Usually, braking energy is lost as heat in the rotors, but regenerative braking stores that energy and uses it to recharge the battery.

As electric vehicle production increases, the costs of batteries will equalize. In addition, the federal government offers a tax credit for new EV purchases. Depending on the size of the vehicle and the battery capacity, the credit can be as high as $7,500.
