This video was brought to you by AED Planner cow Marcus be stormberg and B Componente yo what's up we are now at G This is going to be um uh like a what You call it exhibition for fire Something uh and and with me I have Yan From Denmark and uh Yan you have a Company called Yi which is about EV Fire Equipment yeah so you know introduction There is that um EES are great of course Uh we have proved it over time now but There's still this this thing about Eevee against Eevee is what what the Heck do you do with Eevee fires because Eevee fires they are impossible to Extinguish they are dangerous and every Time there's a fire they blame Eevee of Course just like Sula yeah you know About that one right yeah and then turns Out it was actually not an eeve that Caused the fire it was um uh Opel safira Diesel and then recently uh there was a Fire on a on a ship uh some kind of car Ship uh what was the cause of that one Again uh in Holland it was a cargo F uh And they thought it was the E again but Uh it was just a ferry oh the ferry yeah Okay but okay so let me show you so We're going to take a look here so yeah This is a it's a bit empty exhibition Area now they are setting up today but Um uh this is actually very nice to here Because it's very quiet here so um you See here um maybe you can start with

This one here some of this is Unfortunately in in um not in English but uh there was something about Some toxic gas and stuff here we have a Lot of toxic gas in cars when you burn a Car not just the battery but all the Plastic inside the car everything that Is in the car from 1980 to 2000 uh the Amount of this um plastic in car has uh Double Up um so it's much more uh poison now And when you put the battery in the car You double up again so now there is so Much poison in the car the firefighters Has to be aware of of this problem so The the one in red here those are the Poisonous uh yeah and they are really Bad really bad the only good thing we Can say about this toxic we can solve it In water if we put find water Mist high Pressure water Mist on the on the smoke We can get the toxic to come down as a It like this like this illustration yes So actually it actually has a purpose Also for fossil cars then yeah you can Say that but uh a fossil car uh normal Firefighters they put out the fire in Three to four minutes 5 minutes putting The equipment back back in the car it's A little more difficult when you have an E you have the batteries a closed Environment and they will still get hot And burn and we can see even if we do This kind of system or they do it like

The normal do on a fossil car the Battery box the the battery will still Burn very hot and if you have a nigle Manganese cob battery it's really bad um The temperature in a battery of that Kind can Rise by 40° uh in a second per second to over 500° so they can get really hot so we Have we have made this equipment when You have put out the first fire in the Car now you can get to the Car we fill water inside the battery box With this little thing here first I just Show you here there's a there's a Picture here you see I think this is a Is this model 3 or model y it's my own Model y okay I hope you didn't drill in It I don't this is you see the whole Idea is that you drill a hole in the Battery pack it sounds crazy but I mean The car should be burning already yeah And then you fill the battery with water And that Should like maybe not solve the problem But improve the situation a lot the the Fire and the thermal Runway will Disappear so and Now we can do it fast So the whole thing the whole idea about This is that if we have an EV in two Years we have an EV on fire the fire Department come and then put the fire Out no problem just like in fossil car Mhm so you see we need special special

Equipment uh for Ev and this thing I Mean it looks like a a weapon from a Video Game but so it's a the EV fire gun yeah And uh it has uh some some yeah drill Here yes and then you just hook it to The standard uh drill actually whatever Exactly they have all kinds of equipment On firefighter on a fire truck so yeah That's uh the easy part they have this Equipment it don't cost a lot of money You put water in here just put water in Here and the water will get out in the In the in the out of this yes uhhuh yeah And if you imagine then this would be The floor on the Tesla or whatever EV on Any EV and and and the bottom there's Two plate here uh is the top of the Battery box I'll show you you open the Door on the car put your your pistol In and you feel the the battery box with Water M uhhuh so that will uh Yeah things like I say in America easy Peasy yeah if you know how to do it so This is this is interesting because of Course traditional firefighters never Thought about this because they don't Have they don't have knowledge about They have some other equipment that is Similar to this but it's much more Difficult to use if they use it there Are two two guys we have a a company in UST that has made another system but it

Costs a lot of money and the car is Exploding and all kinds of things this Is an an easy solution to a problem M Yeah and then I want to show you so There are some other pictures that you Guys have been testing so this is this Is the one right yes the small one mhm Um so one of the first model your your Symol have have uh I'll show you For the water Mist you have your hose in Here and uh you you put it below a car Mhm like This so you can cool the battery box may Maybe just to get the the smoke uh here Yeah exactly exactly and we have the big One this picture is here this is this Car is standing here this is picture is Uh 7 minutes later than this one oh wow Yeah and at this test we only have One if you ask me I would like to use Two one of each side so all this Equipment they can be loaded into a Regular fire truck and brought this can Be loaded to an a regular fire truck and This the big equipment uh this model Here uh we have make for Fairies we can say if a parking house is Burning it's only money but if it's on a Ferry ah it's another story a lot of Money of course but maybe also a lot of Human lives so yeah and then this one This is container this is interesting This was uh some of the first we were Doing um the the firefighters don't know

What to do with the with the EV cars um We filled the container with water put The cars uh inside end of story but but You have to actually lift up the whole Car yes but how do you lift up the a Burning car no we just like uh when we Use the pistol we put out the first fire On the car then we have this window Maybe 5 minutes maybe 10 minutes in that Window we take the car put it in the Container before it re nights again yeah And the same with with the gun it's the Same you have to uh it will be too Dangerous to to take a car that burning Or or go and open the car on a a car That is burning you stand on a distance Put out the fire MH like if it's it was A fossil truck car yeah so that's a Thing oh so you just put the and then What are these tanks uh this is just for Water for the uh fire brigade U we do All kinds of equipment for trucks and uh Yeah whatever they need all all Different kinds of things That's uh was the company uh and there's The the fire truck with a yeah with the Container yeah okay yeah just bring out That one this one is in Copenhagen this One is um in Scotland oh it's already Like available ready yeah yeah has it Been used yet or yes yes in Copenhagen They used it um I think 10 15 maybe 20 Times that been and all the cars they Have inside the container only one has

Exploded after it was inside the Container okay then what happened when It exp they could hear it but they Couldn't see anything because it's Strong enough and the water just EXA Exactly takes the hit okay and when we Put the the car inside the container we Only fill it uh so the battery box is uh Submerged in water and then we have Sprinklers up here so and one of the Good things about the container is the Water is H containment um there's toxic In the water and now we have it in one Place and we can take out the water and You have this in in Copenhagen so it it Has already put out several EV fires Successfully uh yes without uh too much Risk and so on but uh one of the first Time they use the container they have The it was an um hybrid car Mercedes That was standing in a parking area and They use Uh for get to get the Mercedes out of The parking area they use 40 guys 40 Firefighters and a lot of Hours uh it was one of the first time That they don't have any experience so Uh this with the EV cars is also a new Thing for firefighters they have to Think a little different so yeah and That's why we have try to find solution For the firefighters so they can uh do It in a safe way mhm especially with With the this in mind yes so but it

Means that with the with the equipment Today here you can Actually eliminate or with great reduce The the fire risk of that is usually Associated with electric cars then yes There's no reason why people should say They don't want an electric car is Dangerous because of fire that's Ridiculous is uh we know statistic uh That an e don't burn as often as an a Fossil Car but when it Burns it has been in the media because It has been taking so long time to put It the fire out okay so what I want to Know is that stuff like this this Equipment here we're seeing here uh do We have this in Norway Um this is brand new you the first guy To see it oh cool so um we have been Tested with the firefighters in Copenhagen they have seen and tried it And Uh uh I only get positive uh response From them so that's a good thing um all The other equipment they have tried it Test it used it and uh sometime it's a Good when you have a car that is burning No Um fire in that is burning is the Same uh the car is standing on in a Different way uh standing um where it's Easy to get to the car sometimes it's

Electric City Vehicles Cars Power

There’s a wide variety of great electric cars on the market that are ideally suited for city driving. They offer instant torque and quiet, smooth acceleration with a much cleaner emissions profile than gasoline-powered cars. EVs are also cheap to fuel. You can charge them at home or at public charging stations, including several owned by Seattle-area utility company City Light.

The quickest and most cost-effective way to make your commute greener is to replace your current sedan or SUV with an electric model. Most EVs come with a range of features that make them fun and convenient to drive, as well as a battery-powered regenerative brake system that can return electricity to the car’s electrical system when you’re coasting or slowing down. Many offer what’s called one-pedal driving, which lets you vary how aggressively you accelerate or how quickly the car slows down.

While EVs have a lot going for them, they can be expensive and require careful planning if you regularly do long trips. And the energy used to generate electricity varies by state, so switching to EVs won’t completely eliminate automobile-related greenhouse gas emissions.

After gasoline won the automotive-engine technology battle during World War II, most electric-car makers converted to gasoline-powered vehicles. The exception was Britain, which maintained its fleet of electric “milk floats” for home deliveries until the 1980s and Japan, which continued to build battery-powered models such as this 1947 Tama (below). Electric locomotives and trains can have better power-to-weight ratios than their diesel counterparts and use regenerative braking to return kinetic energy to the rail line rather than wasting it.
