This video was brought to you by a Battery planner cam power Marcus Beale Steinberg and Bill componente Yo what's up we're now sitting in the Maxus mifa 9 in this video I'm going to Show you guys how fast this car is Charging wait it's a Chinese car they Don't charge that fast well let's see Then okay let's roll the tips I included A bunch of cars here Um ID bus actually hits quite high speed In the beginning look at that 185 that's The fastest starting one and then I also Include Space Storage yeah I try to Include a bunch of Vans here because They're yeah but that also include et90 Which is very similar in battery size But it has the LLC battery it charges a Lot slower yes but the me for 9 you see That they can maintain roughly 120 Kilowatt quite flat but there's nothing That can beat ID bus right now but ID Bus has the fastest charging speed ever In this comparison space tour is kind of Like there I know it's 75 kilowatt hours Actually the smallest battery in this Comparison the eqb is just actually Quite big battery actually the biggest Battery but uh so much slow charging a Little bit disappointing it seems like a Number of amps is limited to 300 only But look at me for 9 121 kilowatt a nice And flat look at look at that compared To the et90 they're on both of them are
Maxes but it's just unbelievable how Much faster the mifa is joining I wish The 890 would get this kind of charging Speed that was the problem with the et9 You know the pickup truck is that it was Quite thirsty but it charges dog slow so Let me see yeah the the et90 is the Slowest of them all right now Unbelievable how slow it is ID bus is About to hit 50 already but look at me For nine even at 40 it can maintain 123 Kilowatt nice and flat curve wait which One is leading right now space tour is Kind of on the second or yeah it's a Space tour yeah mifa is actually on Second space tour is on third wow and Again now it starts floating a little Bit now at the me for nine uh dropping To 120 kilowatt and then second drop is 115 but you will see that it drops Fairly gently so has a very nice and Flat German charting curve and what About the other cars um okay just look At et90 I include 1890 to show you guys That they are both moxus but okay Different battery chemistry that's true But still I've seen lfp batteries charge Way faster than 69 kilowatt it's almost Like uh Maxes they don't give a About the 89 it's like okay whatever we Just let it charge it can how fast does It charge yes it charges oh okay but Look at okay look at me for nine even at 60 it can take over 100 kilowatt wow
This was such a pleasure when they did 1 000 kilometer challenge I could actually Charge uh to over 60 I don't remember I Think one time I charged you almost 80 Percent it was that flat Bus on the other hand it's impossible to Beat right now it has a very nice Head Start space tour is well a little space Tour it seems slow but the eqb is Actually slower uh yeah and then but 189 Demand is as low as a more You could say well the et9 has a nice And flat joining curve yeah it does it Is flat 69 kilowatt flat oh okay me For nine now starts throttling a little Bit but nice and gentle drop then we're Going to look at the joining curve Afterwards ID bus is up past 80 already What the heck man a bus is like a boss Man that's the way to go man you don't Need a big battery as long as you charge Fast the bus is uh actually let me see It's um it's in the middle there when it Comes to battery size yeah and then me Far but look look at mifa you see even Now very close to 80 percent it's still Taking 80 kilowatt wow that is Impressive like even space tour starts Going a little bit slow actually well I Just say space tour okay it doesn't Charge that fast but it also have some What flat charging curve eqb also Actually all of this has some what flat Tire ID button doesn't look that flat

49 minutes on the eqv versus 46 million E-space tour and then 80 90 is still Going uh ID versus and then me find this Goes to 95 before I stopped I was trying To measure a battery capacity based on Charging and then 89 demand like uh Like it it's quite thirsty and it Charges dog slow okay it's flat yeah True it's flat um the charging speed Only dropped by uh 10 kilowatt no no no No wait no no no it didn't didn't wasn't It no it now it's not dropping yeah yeah As you can see it has nice and flat Turning curve until 80 but it's just dog Slow so I don't think we need to sit and Watch until the 1890 finishes but this Is what I've seen uh is that the Chinese Cars in general they charge quite slow But the me for 9 was quite a big Surprise when we look at the jonaker you See that the ID bus just boom 185 Kilowatt hour per hour I think that's a Mercedes thing So because of this huge lead here or This huge jolt in the beginning it's Impossible to catch ID bus but even past Uh what is this yeah look at this Man even past 75 percent the ID bus is Leading when it comes to charging speed Now this is even kilowatt so C rating Will be even higher than some of the Other ones and then as it was but look At me for nine man huh this is really Good man okay it has a little drop
There but still nice and flat it doesn't Just plummet and then what is this one Eqb is super flat like the Germans and Then just flat flat flat okay and then E-space tour is here kind of like a Choppy choppy choppy and then what is The bottom oh oh it's the Max's oh Like it charges so slow it's like how ID bus charges more than double the Speed of Boxes uh yeah I don't know man but I Don't know if you guys have seen it how It is yeah what do you think huh me for Nine I actually think that the the Charging speed is very good it could be Maybe even better I mean it's a whopping 90 kilowatt hour battery maybe they can Go a little bit faster but there's Always a butt crack maybe it's not Possible because of the thermal Limitation on the battery because I get The impression that Chinese car Manufacturer that might not go for the Best cooling about the idea and that That maybe that's why they have to limit The charging speed yeah so but I mean It's still good yeah it's still good and Also doing one thousand kilometer Challenge I did not experience a name uh Colgate but I was hammering it so uh When El Bill threading and tested this The same car by the way the me for nine They had some Colgate but they were Probably driving slower than me so yeah

A growing number of automakers are planning to introduce pure battery-electric vehicles that could entice many consumers away from gasoline-powered models. EVs can offer excellent efficiency, performance, and lower ownership costs. But the new surge in EV demand will require the power grid to expand its capacity.
Some experts predict that if the entire national fleet of cars and trucks is replaced by EVs, electricity use will jump by 38 percent. That increase in consumption is expected to strain some state power systems, which have been designed based on assumptions of steady, non-growing demand.
To help ease the transition to EVs, utilities can do three things. First, they need to plan ahead. That includes expanding their grid infrastructure to accommodate the increased demand and establishing car-to-grid programs that let drivers give power back to the grid when needed.
In addition to making sure their transmission networks are ready for a big influx of power, the utilities should encourage EV purchases by offering competitive rates and providing convenient public charging stations. In Seattle, the city’s utility, City Light, has opened five EV charging stations in an industrial neighborhood south of downtown.
Although American automotive manufacturers have a technological head start, they’ve struggled to develop homegrown battery-manufacturing plants. That’s why Tesla, the market leader in EVs, has relied on its partnership with Panasonic for the batteries that power most of its cars. The companies are now rethinking battery chemistry, seeking alternatives to the lithium-ion technology that powers almost all current EVs.
