This video was brought to you by AED Ro Planner Camp power marus be storb and B Componente okay it's been a couple of Days and now we are at the nib super Charger I just finished 1,000 km Challenge and I suspect that um like I Talked about earlier that U it seems Like the trip meter is not based on the Whole trip meter it might be based on The last 50 or 100 kilm so I'm going to Do a little test now I'm going to drive From here uh let me see first I Drive South And then I turn back and Drive North and Then I come back here and that Loop is 48 km close to 50 km and I'm going to See what the consumption is um I could Even drive two Loops just to see if the consumption is Consistent yeah and then we try again With the lower speed we're going to do 120 test first what I want to see uh is It this is interesting we have done 1,000 km and you see that according to The 1,000 km challenge thing but this One this is also weird there it Disappears and come back comes back but We will see if this one drops because Now we have if we do the math we have Spent like almost 300 KW hour right so This one shouldn't drop that easily Anymore when we have D driven so far so We'll see so let's uh prepare and then Off we
Go okay so here's the problem the cruise Control goes at maximum 120 kmph which Is around 18 km GPS speed so I cannot go Faster than the cruising road so I have To drive manually now and another Problem is that um when we go downhill It doesn't regen it uses friction Brak So uh yeah but you see that every time We do off when we start just leave the Car and come back this trip meter will Automatically reset and then this one Here will be the long one so I will see If the numbers here uh yeah we'll see Then after the test what what the Numbers Are okay on the first test um this uh This car under reports a little bit 1.1% I figure that so uh um yeah the Consumption is still 299 what about the 1,000 okay 299 um okay let's redo this Again and see if we get the same result Or Not oh interesting second test now 292 W Hour per km it could be because maybe I Was driving a little bit slower I'm not Sure but maybe because the temperature Went up a little bit so yeah um I'll Figure out which consumption number I'll Use but now we do the 90 test and yeah I Should have enough juice for 90 Test okay so this time we use cruise Control but when I go downhill I don't Disable cruise control so it will Actually use friction breake and lose
Some energy but this is actually the Most realistic test because who the heck Turns off cruise control just to go Downhill uh and Then can we count on uh Mox is fixing This no no maxus from psych psych they Don't fix this mg still has the Same problem oh look at that okay okay Let me check this one oh now this one Start dropping a little bit hm Interesting but they are different that One and this One uh look Here after driving 1100 km the Consumption suddenly dropped to 284 it's dropped Like a Rock there is no Way it could drop that Fast yeah so yeah some people say it Might be a 100 km average this one or Some like that yeah that is Plausible I think you figure it out Based on the test now you See this one after start yeah that one Is 203 and this one is 283 so actually if It keep going if you do another test now Another uh um 48 km Loop let's see if we can get this one as Low as 200 W hour per Km yeah but it means that if we multiply The 1,000 multiply by 300 that we had Previously that is 300 Kow hour suddenly I think we are below 300 KW hour Now I think we figured it out by the
Test I have to confirm with a second Loop Also uh look at this second test now Whatever it it doesn't matter too much But look here the 1,000 K Challenge now Has 263 it flued is way too much so Based on this I suspect that it's using Um a 100 km rolling average and then It's probably based on the actual trip Not the one so it's actually based on 100 km on the trip meter not not 98 Point something uh 98.9 uh km so yeah I Need to then do the proper test based on On what I found so Far all right new day new attempt for Figuring out the consumption we are now At ionity do you can see over there so Uh when I charge the car to 100% it says 429 kilm this is the rated R I can show You that if you go here if you go the Energy wait for the lag scroll down uh Where is again um yeah here range Display mode um with Dynamic it will Then be gum based based on past Consumption when you have it on standard It would be a a fixed rate wa did I Trust this One there okay yeah so um uh standard Mode uh not affected by driving behavior Okay but then if you use the dynamic It'll be okay so anyway that means that We can use this uh number here as a a a Way of measuring state of charge in Higher position than percentage so since
It's 400 something that means means that Each kilometer is around. 25% roughly And that should be around 200 W hour Segments right roughly there I think so Uh we just start the test now the 120 Test uh based on this starting kilometer But you see we have to be uh with HB off If we turn on HB just look here what Happens then it instantly Changes so we we just look at this one For highest precision and then we See wait what the heck I just left the Car and then came back in to reset this Counter here and now we are 359 was 358 Just a minute ago okay we start with 300 I count this one and then we count how Many uh kilomet we use okay we're now Doing the 120 test I just turned around So on the way North we got Tailwind That's why the consumption was low and Now on the way back we get headwind but Uh yeah so you see that trip trip here Is 275 W hour per km this one which is a Long trip included 1,000 km challenge It's 273 so um uh they seem to maybe Converge towards the same value I'm not Sure I'm still trying to figure out what The segment is but um whatever we don't Have to care too much about this one on That one that one might be a guideline Is but uh yeah so I actually have to Drive a little bit Faster uh to get that 120 GPS speed you Can actually do it like this just
Slightly accelerate and then Auto ster Is still active but uh I prefer just dve To drive Manual now we're done with the test so According to the trip meter we consume 283 wat hour per kilm and then we also Look at how many kers we spent wait what 188 it keeps jumping down it was 190 When we stopped here and HB is off so Okay so I will write down all these Numbers and then calculate the Consumption based on all this this wow Look at this we have nice weather 18° C Outside yeah by the way ambient Temperature is shown only here see in The HB yeah on the top of the screen here You cannot see outside temperature on The top of the screen here or somewhere You cannot see the outside temperature Uh why but okay and also I'm not sure if You can see it clearly but we have Tailwind and we went downhill a bit and The consumption is remarkably low I Didn't know this mea night could go that Low yeah it's like ionic consumption Ionic 5 LOL Okay but anyway um yeah I need to drive A little while until I return back um I Have to make sure that I don't run out The juice but you see also this big trip Here is also dropping Like a Rock now so Uh I still want to know what the Interval it uses is uh some people
Suggest that maybe it's 128 km and not 100 km but it doesn't seem to be 50 km Km but as long as the trip wait not this One as long as the trip here is less Than that interval then of course this One will be different than this one but I'm hoping to try to find out if that Consumption wait oh and this Consumption will be the same at one Point but we have to just drive the trip Long Enough well we're done with the test so Yeah um 198 wat hour per km claim uh This one is strange because when we Parked it showed 70 km with HB off and Then it keeps look at that it keeps Dropping uh what the heck is going on Here Chinese BMS Huh okay so first I not I wrote down 70 Km and I was like hey wait wait no 69 no No 68 no no no and the last thing I Wrote was 63 no 64 Km um okay I guess I'll write 63 km or Is it going to lower is going to drop Even more huh any lower than that okay No 63 then seems like it needed a couple Of minutes to stabilize uh yeah so I'm Not sure how good of a measurement this Is but this is the best we can do and Then I can show you this one here the Big trip meter has now dropped to 221 Wat hour per kilm so strangely enough This time there's a bigger difference Between this trip and this trip when it
Comes to consumption but in the in the 120 test then they were very ID very Close almost Identical right we're back home and yeah I'm trying to cool down the cabin to Spend a little bit extra energy but uh Look At I speed what the heck what's up with Chinese cars and BG I saw something Similar in extreme values when I when I Drove the the poar 2 down to 0o kilomet Uh 0% then it started bugging and it it Showed me 1,080 km range yeah apparently I've been hammering In okay but now I'm going to plug In and we will see uh from low state of Charge to 100% uh how many kilowatt hour We add and then I try to maybe deduct uh Five actually maybe 10% because we have Some charging loss and then some Discharging loss so that's the one I Will then count as uh net capacity yeah But man it's freaking fun look at the Average Speed she All right this the morning next day now It's pouring down but the car has been Charged through the night and if you Look okay the display is stopped now so Let me see oh man uh let me get inside And check out so I can unplug here yeah We have 429 km of range left again uh And that is 100% And then we went from 6% to 100% and uh the charging station
Consume uh 8 7.7 KW from the plug and Then we have the assum assume some Charging losses inside the car plus some Discharging losses I count 10% and that Will become around 84 Kow hour so we are Nowhere near the the 90 KW hour claim uh Capacity so this is the best measurement I also did a measurement on DC a couple Of days ago and that also points towards Roughly the same 84 85 kilowatt hour Depending on how you count DC losses so Yeah okay now we can calculate the range Then okay so I C some number and you see That um according to the the car's Display it claimed 283 W hour per kilm But then when I did my own calculation Uh I figured out it's 289 W hour per kilm but I'm basing on The the the kilometer we had before and After the test so I'm not entirely sure Which one is correct here because I'm I'm not sure what we can trust here so I Just have to trust my own methods and I Cannot trust the display because the Display as you guys seen Can be misleading it fluctuates it has a Weird uh interval and stuff like that uh And yeah same for the for the 90 test But okay uh the consumption here uh Looks a little bit high but just Remember that it's a van and compared to The ID bus ID bus had similar Consumption but it was a little bit Colder so I suppose if I did this run
When it was colder it would also be Thirsty so my impression is that the mea Is a bit thirstier than ID bus but they Are in the van class so um because this Mea has bigger battery than actually the Range under similar condition should be Right on par with ID bus but the ID bus Charges a lot faster but uh still you Know mea if you guys look at the Charging uh video it can actually get Roughly 120 kilowatt 124 actually Peaks At fairly flat until around 45% and even At around 50% it's still fairly good so What I'm saying is that the charging Curve on the mea is actually quite okay For whatever this car is and you can Actually go long trips and still Maintain High average speed without with Charging uh stops so it doesn't it Doesn't actually look that bad yeah for For a Chinese car they tend to be slow In charging and stuff like that and also Tend to be thirsty but uh maxus actually Managed to make this mea fairly good Yeah very impressive so yeah and now I'm Just going to do This okay and Then wait Huh it's not working oh maybe because we Not totally powered on I was going to Recline can do it manually but yeah I Think that's going to be it for now I Hope you guys enjoy this video as always Thank you for watching and talk to you

Electric City Vehicles
Electric City Vehicles
The latest generation of plug-in EVs offers the same performance and features as their gasoline-powered counterparts while relying on rechargeable batteries to free your drive from fossil fuels. They’re also environmentally friendly, releasing significantly less carbon dioxide than traditional vehicles. EVs are incredibly popular in the Seattle area where drivers can easily charge their car overnight at home or at one of many public charging stations located throughout the region, including several owned and operated by City Light.
As the big OEMs roll out more models, it’s becoming easier than ever to find an EV that fits your lifestyle and budget. From the fun and quirky Renault ZOE to the upscale Porsche Taycan with its 246-mile EPA-rated range, there’s an electric car for every driver.
Unlike fossil-fuel-powered cars, electricity used to power EVs can come from a wide variety of sources including nuclear, renewables, coal and natural gas. However, even if all cars were powered by electricity generated by clean energy sources, switching to EVs wouldn’t eliminate emissions. The way electricity is produced in different states, for example, impacts total EV emissions.
As demand for EVs grows, the major automakers are taking a variety of approaches to dealer support. Ford, for instance, allows dealers to opt in or out of its EV certification program at any time while GM requires all dealerships to participate in the initiative. Dealers who are more reluctant to invest in EVs may see Ford’s flexibility as more appealing than GM’s rigid approach.
