This video was brought to you by a Battery planner cam power Marcus Beale Steinberg and Bill componente Yo what's up today I'm gonna show you Guys the charging curve of the Volkswagen id5 refresh it's in the back There you like that okay let me Show you now so this time I started from Zero percent you can see that it starts Ramping up a little bit and then it will Hit 120 okay 125 it slowly goes up it's supposed to Peak at 130 kilowatt and this is by the Way what you see into the battery not What the charger pulls okay and now we Include a bunch of other cars so yeah For some reason the the previous one I Got 57 kilowatt hour from it and then Okay that was measured two years ago the Ionity and also and this one also ionity Let me include mg4 and also model 3 Model 3 hit 170 kilowatt oh I was too Too slow but um okay now look at mg4 Really fast starting fast and flat Running curve the id3s they start Slowing down a little bit and you see That it's somewhat similar they have 24 Okay I'm not sure the ID the the Facelift this is slightly ahead because I started from 10 percent the the Previous one they uh that one had to Ramp up that's why it has a slight uh The slight lead here but it should be Fairly and they connect those two but
Look there now so you see now ID3 the Two id3s they started slowing down even The model 3 start slowing down but the Mg4 still keeps a nice and flat Chargers It's incredible how nice and flat it is It's eaten like Jordan Corman for this Kind of small battery and also Chinese Car but okay back to the facelift um Here you see that the percent wise the Two id3s they have very similar percent And also very similar Kilowatts yeah but this is what I'm Talking about that the the ID3 in the Middle the one at the ionte screen that One includes also some cooling uh but Then the one to the left is what Actually goes into the battery so it Could appear as we are charting slower Now versus before but the percentage is What matters and you see the percentage Is knuckle neck even though it looks Like we are charting faster so that's Why I want to include more and more of This BMS readings instead from car Scanner or can be Tesla rather than I on This screen because it's somewhat Misleading from the charger but also Depends on what car it is but okay Anyway okay back to you now okay mg4 Started throttling a little bit and then What else is going on here the id3s they Are pretty much again model three though Which car is a header but oh mg4 is Actually ahead but remember that mg
Force uh state of charge scale is Non-linear at the bottom it goes really Fast or it drops fast which means that The percentage at the bottom doesn't Account that most is printed towards the Top so it's in a way it's a slightly Misleading cheating that way 74 on mg4 Is actually maybe only around 70 on the Other cars for example model 3 is super Linear and also measure the ID3 to have A very linear state of charge scale but Okay what else is to say about ID3 is Here now with ie3 once we get close to 70 it goes kind of slow not much to Expect I guess once with system hubs Around 60 kilowatt hour battery all of These are actually similar battery sizes And then model 3 starts going a little Bit slower but mg4 has a nice lead it Had that nice and flat running curve it Seems like it would be pretty hard to Beat the model 3 Is you know even now about three at the Lowest they'll charge it's running Slower than the mg4 and also ID3 you see Also that one also at the lowest of the Chart but also slower than mg4 it's Incredible how fast mg4 charges I think At this point it's impossible to beat Mg4 to the 90 race but I also wanted to Include the two ID3 recordings because I Want to show you guys if there is any Difference in In the charting curve but it seems to be
Similar but one thing I want to point Out by the way is that the first Dimensionate the ID3 you have the Battery Min and Battery Max temp you see That the Delta is only around three and A half degrees Celsius really nice it Was trying to keep the battery below 50 Degrees Celsius to prevent the replicate I suspect that past 50 degrees is not Replicating but the Delta at lower Stated charge earlier was only around One to two degrees Celsius which is Really good compared to many of the Chinese well some of the Korean cars and Also a Japanese cars but the md4 hit 90 Now but now it starts going a bit slower And remember that at higher stable Charge the percent in the mg4 is get Gets denser and denser so in a way it Charges lower and slower in that regard Then model 3 is the second one hitting 90 and then the ID3 is there Unlike many um many German cars they Tend to have nice and flat starting Curve but not for this one seems like so Uh yeah it doesn't go that slow I can Show you guys a drowning curve it's kind Of gentle-ish but wait a minute that We're gonna go a little bonus round here Let's go for 100 let's see which car we Can go to 100 faster oh model 3 actually Takes a little later over md4 md4 was Quite fast in the beginning but it lost Its own plus that at higher standard
Charge we now see how the real estate of Charge is so okay it's getting harder And harder for the mg4 to push it past Uh 90 model 3 has a pretty massive lead But now it's the model 3 starts slowing Down and then the ID3 is they start Going they still have a fairly flat Curve past 90 this is really good mg4 on The other bar just Falls completely Falls apart now it goes really really Slow to the point where it's almost Pointless to charge uh past this point Okay that was a lot of the points but Okay and then model 3 could be the Winner here to 100 first wow that's like A bonus or but to see how fast we can go To 100 I still don't recommend it but in case You're going to No Man's Land and you go To a place where there's no DC faster Maybe you have to charge 100 You said md4 goes dog slow now wow even I did three overtook md4 oh okay I gave Up on the mda4 because it took too long And I needed to go home But yeah I did three I get neck on neck 97 96 from from Fairly equal those two Sonic's Journey sessions and remember That the the other one known the one in The middle was shot around two or three Years ago I don't remember exactly but It's at least two years old so there has Not been any changes here model 3 is About to hit 100 but oh wait a minute I
Did three is also 99 wow this is so neck Or neck but look at the ID3 now it Charges at 20 kilowatt whereas Tesla Takes only seven kilowatt what is the uh Is the ID3 gonna do it no more the three Hit first but ID3 is right behind so That was really really neck on neck Towards 100 uh then the the Germans show Them that the real silver charge is 96 That's why yeah but it's pretty good Yeah and here you see the red line is The facelift and the blue line is the The one I don't know I just label it 120 Kilowatt update there's recorded many Years ago but you see it's it's just Nickel neck like I believe that there is No difference they I think they have not Changed the charging crew it has stayed Unchanged everything's done and the Reason why I tested it because there are So many followers told me you have to Test the new um the new ID3 it has a Better charting curve now it charges Faster now okay really oh let me see let Me see Well turns out it charges just Like before and then what the heck is This Rose this is Tesla Tesla is pretty Much above ID3 all the way until this Point here roughly but the mg4 is just Boom mind-blowingly fast yeah so yeah Um I don't know man I feel like uh the ID3 It was great when it came out three Years ago but they kind of lost its
Oomph and then other competitors are Coming out with newer models and they Just kick ass so I was hoping for Volkswagen to I don't know at least have Some kind of flatter curve maybe 135 Kilowatt flat until 50 well something Something faster than before but it Seems like that is not the case so yeah Um at least when it comes to charging it Seems like the facelift doesn't charge Any faster than before but there might Be other upgrades in the facelift right Well okay I think that's going to be it For now I hope you guys enjoyed this Video as always thank you for watching And talk to you later

Electric City Vehicles Cars Power
About Electric City Vehicles Cars Power
EVs use an electrical motor to drive, so they don’t emit greenhouse gases or require the frequent oil changes of traditional cars and trucks. This makes them a powerful tool for combating climate change and improving air quality in cities.
While there are a variety of models on the market, EVs can still be expensive for many drivers. But with new charging stations popping up in shopping centers, parking garages and workplaces, more people are able to access affordable, zero-emission vehicles.
A key to making the EV revolution happen at scale is building and maintaining the clean energy grid that will power our cars, buses and trucks. The current system barely functions under stress and fails too often for comfort, as we have seen in California, Texas and other places.
Ford GM Power Manufacturing
The US automakers’ big profits are tied to selling gas-powered SUVs and pickups, especially in states like California that have stringent emissions rules. In addition, the United Auto Workers union representing Ford and GM employees has argued that the shift to electric vehicles could threaten their jobs.
Despite this, major automakers are pushing to jump into the EV market. Several are creating alternative battery technology that doesn’t rely on rare and conflict-ridden metals like nickel, cobalt and manganese. For example, Ford is developing a battery made of cheaper lithium-iron phosphate that can be produced at scale. Meanwhile, Tesla continues to innovate and dominate the EV market with sleek, sporty models that turn heads.
