This video was brought to you by Steinberg a better world planner Mr Green Camp power and Marcus Beale Yo what's up in this video I'm going to Show you guys the starting session of The Audi Q8 e-tron 55 it's the Branch Banking new fat e-tron how good is it How can I compete against today's uh Competitors like Mercedes like bienware And even Tesla let's find out so right Now uh we will first compare against the Old fat e-tron and you see that to my Big surprise the new etron goes kind of Slow I mean even the the old e-tron was Faster like what the heck is going on Right now by the way to the right here We see car scanner that belongs to the New session so you can see that the Battery was hot enough we have freaking 32 to 38 degrees Celsius prior to yoyo To get it hot enough and we also have This Dynamic charge limit in amps Unfortunately I don't have any kilowatt Numbers here in the car scanner but at Least we see it on the main screen so You see that uh actually the old etron Was charging faster and the new one uh Up until yeah now even you see Uh a little bit surprising that it goes Kind of slow I mean it's it's a it's 20 Bigger battery see that we have 114 Versus 95 kilowatt hour before okay now We start seeing someone Christian now Now finally the fat agent new fat agents
Like oh yeah 150 uh you see you have to Go to past 35 before you start seeing Some good speeds here the the old Electron is kind of hanging there nice And flat but the new one now tries to Hit that 170 kilowatt that is advertised Yeah speaking of advertise by the way uh You see that I say 100 kilowatt hour net Capacity in 114 gross according to this Paper is 106 kilowatt hour but I never Ever managed to get that much out so Real world versus spec I guess well okay We almost miss it we actually never hit 170 kilowatt it was hovering at 168 I Think at the highest and now it's Starting to dropping a little bit but It's a very nice and slow and gentle Drop and now I feel like the new etron Is fast than the old one but just barely And it had that disadvantage in the Beginning so yeah not too impressive I Was hoping to have a 20 nice and flat Rate over the old one you know I was Expecting 165 to 170 kilowatt flat like The old latron but unfortunately that is Not the case I'm not sure what's going On right now and also if you look at the Battery temperature I wonder did I yo-yo Too hard here because it could almost Seem like um there was some kind of Overheating or I don't know I mean Throttling I can show you guys once we Look at the graph here but uh maybe the Battery doesn't like to be 50 degrees
Celsius and also my big surprise there Is a quite big gap between Min and Max Temper I believe for the longest time That uh Audi had good engineering and That they had almost no gap between Min And Max but you see that there's a an 8 Degree celsius Delta between Min and Max That is not ideal to avoid Colgate and Then replicate in the same session you Want to have very low Delta I should Check out Tesla because I've seen it Before the Tesla has only one degree Celsius Delta between Min and Max or you Know what actually maybe this is the Case for the old electron maybe the old Latron had a very narrow Delta but here Eight degrees Celsius Delta That is kind of big okay now it starts Rotting a little bit but okay the the Old etron uh of course has a smaller Battery so it naturally it will finish Faster but of course also the fact that The old e-tron actually had Um a small it had higher charging rate And a higher C rating that's why it is Actually ahead right now yeah I saw There was like a little flush there Because actually the old e-tron after About half an hour even tried to shut Down the car but at least the new one Stays on all the time so that's good There's some small Improvement there Some push button going on okay the old Neutron hit 90 first and then the new
Etron is uh kind of behind yeah but in Terms of energy it should maybe be the Same yeah actually maybe even bit better But I don't have any energy numbers on The on the electron on this session but You will also see that the old electron Also goes fairly fast to 100 this is Even after the the update where you they Unlock more energy you have 86 kilowatt Hour instead of 83 in the old days so Actually in the old days the the e-tron Charge even faster to 100 but you can See now that the old electron goes kind Of slow towards the end as expected But still faster than the new e-tron so Yeah this is now now the new e-tron hit 90 that took a while man wow what the Heck so I guess I'll just wait and see Like how long will it take for these two To hit nine not to need 100 because Traditionally I've seen it right many Many years ago money money each one Owners they will charge you 100 it was Going quite fast I remember I think even At 99 it was taking like uh 50 was it 50 Kilowatt or maybe 60 kilowatt it was but That was because it had a buffer but you Got to see uh speaking of buffer by the Way uh let me see uh yeah the the new The old electron is about to hit 100 but You see it goes kind of slow towards now It finished Um you will see that if you look at car Scanner again you see that we have state
Of charge display and then true status Charge so um you will see at 100 we will Actually not have 300 so it's like it Has a top buffer and I think it will be Well we'll see you soon I think it's Around 96 through the charge so there's A little top buffer uh why do they have This well maybe to conserve the battery To avoid too much degradation to have Maybe yeah you will have some region Once you start driving stuff like that So and also of course it will have nice And Char nice fairly nice and flat Charging curve to 100 but actually at This moment it's not going that fast Compared to the competition I feel Almost like the other Germans and even Tesla goes almost as fast to 100 percent Hmm well okay we'll just wait and see That we wait a little bit more we just Want to see once it hit 100 but you can See that it takes actually quite a long Time to hit 100 with the new fat e-tron So I guess The new fat e-tron is more like other Cars that you probably just want to go To 90 100 takes too long but wait what Is the point in the new etron then if You can just get the old electron and it Goes uh faster to 90 or maybe even to 100 by the time this one it's 90 right Hmm yeah okay let's wait wait okay we Have to see this we have to see these Ones it is 100 it's about to happen soon
But there you go you can see that we Actually have 96 and also the the charge Energy that one also seems to be fairly Good actually it's a little bit Under Reporting sometimes it's it's supposed To be 100 kilowatt hours it seems like Car scanner might be a little bit Pessimistic but there okay it finished But that took some time and here you see The joining curve that uh you see the New etron for some reason it's starting Slower than the old one and remember we Had nice and hot temperature in the Battery so this is a little bit Disappointing but at one point okay it Goes faster but it should it should Actually be like like in my opinion or In what I thought was that it would be Like here you know zip like this and Then slowly go up as the as the voltage Goes up because it seems to like this Fat e-tron has a current maximum current Of 400 390 amps only so that's a little bit Disappointing because all the other Germans like you know BMV and and Mercedes they can go flat 200 or close To 200 at the bottom because they can Allow 500 amp but this one for some Reason the Audi Engineers they just Figured out that look at 390 amp seems To be enough out to be enough just like 640 K of ram I guess but look here this Dip here is this natural throttling or
Is it uh like uh thermal throttling also This one this is the I wonder I suspect Maybe this is a some kind of thermal Clothing because it's very when you have Something like this it's mostly or it's Likely that it's just struggling because Of a higher standard charge but here When you have a dip like this and then Especially when it goes quite Significantly up that could indicate That there's a thermal throttling so Maybe I yo-yo a little bit too hard uh I Will see I will show you in another Session with the new each or not it Doesn't have this thermal dip here but Okay so yeah I was just hoping for this Blue line to be shifted further up with The with the versus the red line but it Was not the case unfortunately and Actually towards the end it goes even Slower than new each one Oh where's the force And then the next one here we actually Test the cold or the cold battery test So I tested against a plug and also Model Y and you see that okay the Teslas They start with with the slightly warmer Temperature but they actually at least The plant goes faster than the fat E-tron wow that is very impressive look At that fat Adrian goes kind of slow Because I guess the battery was cold but Then the test allowed higher higher Speed at lower temperature very
Impressive but then the model Y is going Kind of slow but also even the model y Goes faster than the fat e-tron so um You will notice something else here that Okay they they start at roughly the same Temperature but you see that the blood Has way higher temperature than the the Fat e-tron and that's because the fact Itron has a six kilowatt battery heater Where's the plug uses triple Motors plus Heat pump so I estimated I don't know How the cop value for the heat pump is But I estimated the flood has probably Something like maybe 16 to 18 kilowatt Of battery heating power versus six Kilowatt on the fat eatron but y on the Other hand you can see the front and Rear power they are active right now so They're pulling 5.5 kilowatt plus heat Pump I'm not sure how much that one is But also the model Y is charging fast I Mean it's a heating up fast and you can See that the temperature in the model y Battery is higher than the fatron so the Fatron is kind of slow and okay you have To also consider that the fat eatron has A bigger I mean it has more mass on the Battery so of course naturally it takes Longer to hit that big fat battery but Look now oh yeah the e-tron's like oh no I just don't I don't want to be schooled By some American Silicon Valley I want To be a car manufacturer here so now the Fat Adrian is talking about to take some
