This video was brought to you by Steinberg a better world planner Mr Green Camp power and Marcus Beale Yo what's up you're now in front of the House and behind me here you see BMV ix1 And in this video I'm going to do a Range test so this is a new test Procedure we just charge the car to 100 In the garage and I'm going to measure The battery capacity and also how much The car consumes so you see Charging ended Yeah the plan is to use modern's account But the plan is to drive to the north I'll show you we are here at the Orlando The V1 house We would just drive and then go to DAR Is over here and then we do the Consumption tests but we're also at the Same time measure the battery capacity So what I need to do is to reset this One and then we count how many kilowatt Hour we spend total and so on so uh I Guess I'll just reset and then off we go All right we're on the moon so we have a Nice day today wow 12.5 degrees Celsius Finally we get two digit temperatures Here in Norway oh so um yeah first step Is just to drive over to doll and now It's not too important how fast or slow We are driving so um we are just Counting kilowatt hour not watt hour Programmer right now All right we have arrived at iontidol
Our measuring our start point for the Measuring so um yes you can see here That we have some um trip meters that we Have seen this individuals since Factory Okay Um and here since last chart this one Will automatically reset once we plug in Again so we will of course not do that So we will just reset this one since the Individual and then we do the 120 test All right nice weather today yeah uh Doing the 120 and to be realistic we Have to hug the left lane all the way Because this is how BMW drivers drive So I can't drive on the right lane and Then we might get a different result and Then people who buy this car they'll be Like huh why wasn't the Rings as Expected according to the test that Bjorn did right so yeah okay that's how We do it huh that's how we roll So uh it will just be uh 70 I think it's A 70 kilometer Loop Round Trip So well there's still some snow left but Most of it is gone now finally oh we are In the second half of April after all And then how is the ride well it Actually rides surprisingly good but it Is the ultimate driving machine anyway So but I just came from the BMV i7 so of Course the ix-1 here appears to be a Little bit noisy well okay we are on the Rough from Norwegian asphalt but we have Continental Viking contact seven uh
Studless winter tires so there should be A fairly quiet but I guess yeah rough Asphalt kind of makes a lot of noise but Fortunately this is not too Representative for the rest of Europe Actually let me try the right lane I think the right end is smoother Oh yeah yeah okay okay let me try if I Go off center a bit there now this is The smoothest and get right over here So now you guys get an impression of how It is it actually it is fairly quiet It's on par with the top quiet cars yeah One of the top upper half you know it's In like The upper or the quarter top something Uh in the list that I've tested so um And it's quite comfortable right also Has a little bit maybe I don't know how To put this maybe some some bouncy feel On it Despite being a crossover it doesn't Feel too much boat so but that's in General what I experienced with the BMW They have nice ride and they have this Sporty feel and everything versus for Example Uh Mercedes that tends to be a bit both On an Audi Yeah that's Audi yeah so uh I like it I like it a lot let's see now How efficient it is then Okay let's say oh we have headwind white Strong headwind according to the wind
Sock yeah So mios is a bit windy today but it it's Usually typically windy right at this This area here is a bit wide open but in The woods it's not that strong you can See here yeah they have fixed the winds Up finely whoa So that's probably why the consumption Is a bit high right now 247 watt hour Program yeah this car actually shows What our per kilometer huh you see just Like Tesla this is the right way to do It but um yeah so I have to cruise 122 Now we are of course using B mode Because that's the most efficient mode On the motorway And we will drive let me see one more Exit after this one I'm not sure this One yeah I think I will turn around at Um It's all up there's still some snow in The in the Hills over there but at least Here in the lowland while low ish lands Then no more snow and of course dry Road And then over here it's 8.5 degrees Celsius it was 11 degrees at Lebanese so I guess we just as usual take an average Probably 10 degrees or something like That Wow 229 watt of a kilometer that is Better than the ix3 which is a bigger Car okay but rear wheel drive this is All-wheel drive on temp over here is 11.5 degrees
All right so this time we cruise at 92 On the speed though and uh I already Measured the the distance error on 1000 Kilometer challenge this car measures it Perfectly I mean it's 0.2 percent off so That means that I don't have to go all The way to Rudolph and back again my Normal stretch where I measure distance Error but I can show now that I will go To uh Over there I want to do the rolling test What they call it the the hosting test At least but now the car estimated I Will get there and I will arrive where I Have 56 percent And if I get over there I had 28 really Uh so round trip will I will end up with Almost no juice left maybe the car has Been adjusted for me driving fast and Now I'm driving slow so I guess we'll See once we get closer there uh whether We go there or not I could turn around That hammer before yeah let's uh see but Okay so Um first thing we'll do is check the Weight of this car I saw that the scale Was actually not kaput today that's good And as always remember to ABC always buy Sulu oh yeah and try Ah Refreshing this is the sugar-free Version Sugar uh it's called solo super yeah Okay let's say front axle oh
Oh really Ten thousand I mean 1080. The whole car Wow it is a lot lighter than ix3 huh Interesting Wow the consumption is 169 Um ix3 is 168 but remember that we have Now the headwind stretch which means That on the way back it should be even Lower maybe uh well except for that we Have to go uphill towards the end this Is going to be an interesting run man And despite that this is a poor man's BMV this car is equipped with Harman Kardon sound system let's try them Wait there it is okay Should be good right just like the ix3 And The IX and the i7 Oh yeah Nice and firm base oh I like it Okay let me see next song I need to change the library getting a Bit bored with the test songs But at least it's consistent across all The cars I trust so use uncompressed Wave file from the USB stick And everything is flat the EQ everything Is flat Oh yeah very nice and clear Oh I always listen after that one super Crisp and well defined it's from here Somewhere right at least it appears to Be from there Escape
[Music] [Applause] Wait wait very good the whole skipping Is a bit clumsy there oh wait huh So let's get to the next song not not Within the song Okay look it is Maybe I'm just a little bit clumsy with The controls here But you always want to blame car ABC If you make a mistake it's the cause Fault of course bad software Okay listen to this one but listen to The base here but also in general the Whole song It sounds great Of course I tested this year already before in the 1000 kilometer challenge The base is nice and linear Okay next one here [Music] Also a pleasant to listen to sounds Natural it's boys [Music] What about this one we have now a guy With a A bright device This is sound this is the sun shade by The way [Music] Yeah it sounds awesome There's some deep bass here well defined Fairly Punchy maybe it doesn't go as
Deep as some of the other systems but Still pretty deep yeah Last one we will have rattling in the Door and we'll listen for rattling in The door but it's a German outdoor you Know This test is almost not necessary Because German Auto is the best so let's Try it now let me see No problemo So this is also one of the best I I've Heard systems if I would give it points Maybe just nine points yeah maybe not Ten I feel like it's still lacking Something I'm not sure what it is yeah Maybe because uh well it's not the cars To blame it maybe because it doesn't Have the most quiet cabin or I don't Know it semi-boxy something like that But yeah I still feel like the E-class Was still the the top for some reason But okay nine is still very good for Poor man's BMW Okay let's do the coasting test So I have to wait until we start Regioning Before I put it okay now I put it in Neutral some cars might have no region Option Or something like that but the problem Is that even if you are just hosting in No region and you are in drive then the Car might activate some smart region so That's why I always use neutral to avoid
Any of that kicking in so yeah we're Picking on speed now oh this is looking Good and I think over here we might not Have too much headwind yeah we can check For when we are further down there Wow we're picking up speed fast despite Being a crossover yeah this is exactly What I experienced with the BMV is that They seem to have a low friction in the Drivetrain this applies to all the other BMWs I tried in the past also same with The IX even the bigger ones and also Yeah ix3 the River Drive So this one seems to be no exception we Actually hit some nice speeds But will it be enough is it hot enough Outside it's 11.5 degrees over here Well one thing to note is that every Year when we try this then the the Asphalt will be roughened rougher you Can actually hear if I go a little bit Off center especially this side here See suddenly we have less noise Less rumbling and that means smoother Ass fault and it should also mean a Slightly less rolling resistance versus Here Where everyone drives So uh but fortunately we have fairly Soft tires uh Continental Viking attack Seven so maybe they just kind of even Out and smooth now a little bit wind Over here okay there's still some wind But not as strong as in admination
There there we hit 90 kilometers per Hour all right so Um yeah it still couldn't beat the Record Which we we do you know we need a car With low Uh low rolling resistance right or low Low uh reduction like low friction in The drivetrain probably a Tesla and also High mass but also low drug coefficient Yeah maybe Model S plot is a very good Candidate yeah I should take the Plaid Here and see maybe try to refine the day With some Tailwind that'd be the best Yeah yeah of course of course ABC always Be cheating okay so normally I would go Further before I turn around but now I Just turn around here yeah they go back To uh it's okay Wow 166 watt hour per kilometer looking Good so now we're heading back to doll Uh 45 min 81 kilometers from here and You see this is very nice I navigated to God so okay not to the fast charger I Don't want it to preheat and use more Energy but now the car estimates that we Will run with five percent you know just The fact that it does some kind of Estimation and tells me roughly how many Percent I will arrive with that gives The driver a sense of safety that we can Make it there or of course if I would Navigate to too far away there will also Be some warnings that oh you can't make
It there so cars that has this feature Today They I feel like they are way better as An EV than other cars that doesn't have This feature at all Wow look at this 160 watt upper glamor And then over here it's 12.5 degrees Celsius now yeah this is better than ix3 And this is even extra you know All-wheel drive dual motor stuff but Okay so now I have 15 left I'm going to Drive it down even deeper because we Need to figure out how many kilowatt Hour we have so we can check uh yeah Since last charge how much we spend so Far yeah so we have to drive a little Bit more but let's see now so um uh yeah Now actually we can switch over to since Last chart but um now if I do this uh no Actually yeah I can do I'm not sure if I Should navigate to ionity or now Manual but if you do this and then Uh well we can just Click here HPC Show details Uh yeah it's just ionic all right okay Start Um Usually when I do this with ix3 or the Other cars they will start preheating Let me see we need to switch over to the Kilowatt hour per hour It doesn't do anything HVAC is off
Hmm Compare and drive even Will it not preheat the battery Maybe it figures out that it's warm Enough Okay but let's drive a little bit nearby Here All right we're almost done with the Test now so uh we're down to four Percent and even at four percent we Don't have any power limit here now you Can check let me see Ah full power Okay that's good that should indicate That the battery is nice and warm then Okay we are done so we take the Consumption here multiplied by the Distance and then we also count the two Percent left and then we figure out how Many kilowatt hour we get out of this Battery and we can then also figure out Uh what the range is at 90 and 120 Kilometers per hour Okay so now we're actually doing the Charting test you know normally during Winter we semi-freezing in the car Because we have to turn off HVAC while We are testing the charging but now Spring is here and I have to open the Doors so it doesn't become too hot Okay but let me show you that this is How I do it I just put the tripod here And I'm recording the the ion the screen We can see here if I assume uh can we
See that one oh Yeah you kind of see it right 126 Kilowatt So that is I forgot how to do something Here Details yeah okay this one this one okay So now we can see well you can even Maybe you can see it better there now Let me just try to zoom in here I don't Want to interfere with this one now uh But look look You're going to see it here you can't See it in the screen where I need to I Need to use my new finder is so look at The voltage 297 this is a charging voltage So uh if that means that the battery Voltage is lower than this probably Around 285 maybe or during a 90 volt so Somehow VMware designed this pack to Have a low voltage and this becomes a Problem with the children 50 kilowatt Because then the limit in amps is just 125 so I've seen it you you get only 35 Kilowatt on the 50 kilowatt charger Yeah so um all right uh wait 127 is this Maxi I think this is uh more or less Max What you can achieve that's why the car Didn't want to preheat more So range wise it looks like the ix1 is Right on par with the Volvo xc40 xc40 is A bit thirsty but has a bigger battery And then versus ix3 then okay ix3 has More range because it has a bigger
Battery but um uh rain consumption wise This one is actually Um a little bit better than ix3 despite It is all-wheel drive so I'm really Impressed with how efficient BMV can Make their cars both Rebel Drive and Also overdriversions but of course Versus test number why that one is also Overdrive then uh yeah this one is not Even close when it comes to range but I Guess you guys don't buy cars solid Based on the range right you just buy The car based on how big the Grille is So I think that's going to be it for now Hope you guys enjoyed this video as Always thank you for watching and talk To you later

Electric City Vehicles Cars Power
Electric City Vehicles Cars Power
The world of cars powered by electricity is broad and deep. These vehicles include everything from quiet, zipping transit buses to big-rig tractor trailers that combine a gasoline or diesel engine with an electric motor and large rechargeable battery pack.
EVs don’t burn fossil fuels like gas and oil, and they can drive much longer distances on a single charge than their internal-combustion counterparts. They also don’t emit any tailpipe emissions, and they can help reduce air pollution in neighborhoods.
Batteries & Manufacturing
The United States is home to the largest battery production facility in the world, Redwood Materials’ new lithium-ion cell plant in Stanton, Tenn. The plant is designed to power 5 million electric vehicles by 2030. It will use recycled content from end-of-life batteries and consumer rechargeable lithium-ion devices and batteries to meet this target.
Electric vehicles are more efficient in converting energy than their internal-combustion counterparts, so they have lower CO2 emissions. In addition, they are cheaper to operate and produce less waste than their gasoline or diesel counterparts.
Charging Solutions
As EVs continue to grow in popularity, they will need dependable recharging solutions for drivers who don’t have access to charging at home or work. That’s why Earthjustice is working to increase access to public charging stations in shopping centers, parking garages and workplaces across the country.
Route Zero
Earlier this year, Earthjustice joined a diverse coalition of leading environmental groups to launch Route Zero, an electric vehicle road relay that will visit all 50 states over the course of 2019. The campaign will highlight the investments made in EV infrastructure and EV manufacturing around the country.
