But they can also take a while to charge, and if you’re in a hurry or need to go long distances, planning ahead is essential. Moreover, electricity-generation processes produce greenhouse gasses, too, so a switch to electric cars won’t eliminate all car-related emissions.

Most EVs have more cargo space than comparable gasoline-powered models in their class. That’s because they don’t need to accommodate a bulky engine and transmission. Ford

The American automaker has a range of plug-in vehicles, including the electric Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs and the E-Transit commercial cargo van. It’s also working on a smaller, five-seat SUV called the Pear, which will arrive in 2024. Like the Ocean, it will use a lithium-ion battery with a projected price of $30,000.
