Electric City Vehicles

Cars powered by electricity are a great way to get around town and reduce your carbon footprint. They can make driving in busy city traffic a lot easier with nippy acceleration and pin-sharp handling. Plus, regenerative brakes can put braking energy back into the grid and help to further reduce your running costs.

There are also a number of government incentives available for those buying an electric vehicle. This can help to offset the initial price premium and make EVs a more affordable option for many drivers. Electric vehicles are also much quieter and have lower emissions than cars with internal combustion engines, making them perfect for urban use.

EVs can be plugged into a standard wall outlet to recharge their batteries, but they require a much faster charge than gasoline vehicles. Many cities have installed rapid charging stations, which can replenish a car’s battery to 80 percent in under 30 minutes.

While electric vehicles are a great solution for navigating the city, they may not be the best option for long-distance travel. New York startup Wink has unveiled four new neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs) that are designed to be street-legal in most states as low-speed vehicles, but they won’t be able to take on highways.
