This video was brought to you by a Battery planner cam power Marcus Beale Steinberg and Bill componente Yo what's up me now I'm from the house Behind me here is citron ec4x and in This video we're gonna test to see what Happens if we drive it until the battery Dies so most cars they will actually go Quite far beyond zero percent maybe they Have roughly two to almost three Kilowatt hour buffer below zero but I Heard that the slant these cars they Will die right around zero so we're Gonna find out about that so yeah I have Done one thousand kilometer challenge Prior to this one so the battery is nice And low and also a little bit warm if That's relevant So you see We have eight percent 20 kilometers of range left At least for now okay it reporter has 24s degrees Celsius is outside we set to 20 inside and At least for now the cooling is working AC is working so let's drive a little Bit around the neighborhood and get the Battery low or deep discharge All right we are getting Lola and first Thing happens is that voice recording Some warnings about low battery but now At five percent you see that uh Instantly the the displayed range Disappears this is the same behavior as

And then you will see it initially Okay unlock With the trunk open and then close this One okay And there's no button here to unlock the Chartwell this is useful so what you Have to do is lock Unlock it will unlock the job this is Also clumsy if you If you're on well freaking fossils man Okay so if you walk around and then you Enter the car then suddenly the trolling Stops Temporarily And then it re-engages after some Seconds Wait how long was this again I don't Remember Yeah or or if you lock it but I'm just Going to do this and plug it in and then When you do this in this state if the Car is unlocked the position you see Yeah and now a handshake starts and then When you come here suddenly you will see The joining screen For a little bit Why uh come on where's the charging Speed wait huh It's So Random when I see this journey Through the knot Okay whatever I give up For a while the Slate battery is at 83 Master battery is at 74 percent

And when we can find out time and energy Here 80 minutes so far 600 watt hour push Through the cable so maybe around 500 Watt hour into the battery Let's see if we can move the car then Just fire up the car Oh we have one percent battery ah okay So it seems like this car zero means Zero when it was Zero is probably just Half percent but now we actually have One percent so okay we have the third Mode all right that's fine Um but you see there is no visible power Meter here Well or is that the one I'm not sure What how to interpret this display let's See if I put the car in drive now Can we drive Oh yes yes Okay okay okay we can drive all right Let's oh it's quite Snappy let's get Over to the fast charger Okay this is great So this is exactly the behavior I'm Looking for is that wait can I can I Have the luxury of Auto That's for oh he has to run the e-track Nice and cold so um yeah you want to Input 500 watt hour and then you're Gonna of course use the 500 watt hour Right away like going to the fast Charger over here is it busy

Around here Throughout the whole day pretty much and Even far into the evening and night ish But okay so how did the ec4 X do it so Uh we I can at least feel that we had Somewhat linear drop of power but then I Couldn't see it in the screen maybe I Was blind So that wasn't great and also there was No final warning because yeah I'm always Looking for that final warning people Say yeah but you got one many times yes We saw warnings that the low battery and So on but I'm just looking for that Final warning like shut down shutting Down in 30 seconds one minute pull over Safely something like that no uh so you Could just try to crawl somewhere and Then then you suddenly said hey there's No power just like I noticed it there's No power you know so that one wasn't That great but at least when you're Charging it now you get the juice back Or they'll get the power back so that's One good thing Sometimes they go brick the contact is Open you know the resume is that the Hyper World high power high voltage Power battery or a high power Can't speak high voltage battery yeah It's dead and then it's dead for a long Time I usually call it Brit which means That even if you input one kilowatt hour The car is still dead it refuses a move

But this one is doing the worst thing Which is that you charge a little bit Okay you can move but if you charge Maybe just five minutes you might only Be able to move a couple of hundred Meters but that might be enough in some Cases or you can charge longer then you Can go for it so but at least now you Guys know how the behavior of this car Is so in case you run into the same uh Same situation you shouldn't put Yourself in this situation but in case That happens you know how to recover and You now know how the car behaves so I Think that's going to be it for now I Hope you guys enjoyed this video as Always thank you for watching and talk To you later

EVs offer many benefits for city driving. Their engines produce instant, punchy acceleration and regenerate energy when easing off the accelerator for added range, plus they’re quieter than most gas-powered cars. Plus, they can be charged at home or public charging stations when you’re away from the office, reducing your carbon footprint.

The best EVs also have lower maintenance costs than most gas-powered cars because they have fewer components and don’t require oil changes or tuneups, usually only regular fluid topping up of cabin air filter, wiper blades and tires. And some EVs come with roadside assistance from the manufacturer or through an automaker-owned service network, like Tesla’s.

Battery-powered EVs run exclusively on electricity, with some models capable of traveling more than 200 miles between charges. Plug-in hybrid EVs, known as PHEVs, strike a balance between green motoring and go-anywhere flexibility, with their gasoline engines kicking in to help power the car when the battery is running low.

Another exciting option is the hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle, or FCEV, which uses a combination of battery and hydrogen to propel itself. These vehicles are a little less available than other EVs, since their infrastructure is still a bit limited in the US (though a few major utilities like Pacific Gas & Electric are working to change that). Plus, they’re only able to be driven on roads certified as low-speed vehicles (LSV), which means they aren’t suitable for highways.
