They are also less noisy than traditional combustion engines, so they’re better for the environment. Some are even quieter than conventional gas-powered vehicles, though they might not be as quiet when driving at high speeds on the highway.
Where they are assembled
Electric vehicles are made in factories that produce a variety of components, including batteries, electrical systems, and motors. These facilities are generally located in the United States or in China, which is one of the top producers of EVs.
In the United States, many state governments have offered tax breaks or grants to companies that build EV and battery factories in their states. That helps keep manufacturing jobs in America and boosts the overall economy.
Ford, GM and Toyota are among the major automakers investing in EVs. Ford plans to electrify some of its bestselling nameplates, including the F-150 pickup truck and Mustang sports car. GM has made the shift from diesel to electric power with its Chevy Bolt and Volt, and Toyota has partnered with Honda to make a new EV.
