They can also help reduce pollution that harms the environment and residents’ health.
Currently, some EV models are available now for drivers who want to make the switch, although they may not have all the latest features or be offered at the lowest prices. Others aren’t available at all or require a reservation for delivery weeks or months down the road.
2023 and Beyond
As demand for EVs continues to grow, more of these vehicles will enter the market this year and next. Some will be produced only in limited numbers, while others will be available nationwide. Several of them are designed to help people and businesses make the transition to the new technology, including fleets that need to move large numbers of workers at once.
Walmart, for example, is committing to install EV charging stations at thousands of its stores and Sam’s Club locations by 2030. And logistics real estate developer Prologis is committing to build in-house EV charging infrastructure at all its properties and also to make every maintenance vehicle in its US fleet 100 percent electric by 2030. Meanwhile, the company Siemens is committing to provide EVs to all employees and to incorporate charging stations into all new workplace construction projects.
