Electric City Vehicles Powering the City

EVs are a great solution for hectic city driving with nippy acceleration and pin-sharp handling. They’re also more efficient, which means they can save you money on fuel costs while making your car maintenance expenses less expensive as well.

Unlike gas cars, EVs don’t produce tailpipe emissions. However, they do emit greenhouse gases when their batteries are charged, depending on how they’re powered. That’s why we’re working to improve electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure so people can charge their vehicles anywhere they can plug in – at home, work, or at public charging stations.

We’re also in court defending California’s Zero-Emissions Vehicle mandate, which will require 35% of new 2026 cars to be electric (EV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and then ramp up to 68% of all new vehicles sold by 2030. These policies will help reduce air pollution and encourage a broader shift to clean energy.

For many low-income communities, the benefits of EVs go even further than lower fueling costs. Schools like the Stockton Unified School District in California, for example, are embracing EVs to address air quality problems among students, who are overwhelmingly low income and mostly minorities. We’re helping them to access EVs, which can be used as mobile classrooms or shuttles for children and staff.
