This video was brought to you by Steinberg a better world planner Mr Green Camp power and Marcus Beale Yo what's up we are now in Bangkok and Behind me here you see Volvo xc40 and Today I'm going to do Bangkok challenge Which is to drive from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and actually all the way back to China but I would time this it's like The Thailand's 1 000 kilometer challenge But it's only 660 kilometers but why am I testing this car in Thailand because It's actually somewhat important it's Somewhat popular because it is from China and that means that it's fairly Affordable well 2.7 million Baht Tesla Model wide performance costs 2.5 million Baht Okay but we're gonna test it anyway so This is the 78 kilowatt hour battery uh I think what is important kind of is we Have 235 50 19 inch wheels They are good they are good yeah yeah so All right and I'll show you that the Steering wheel is on the right side with The wrong side should have been left Side with the right side so I'm now Preparing to charge But I'll show you in here Um the car is charging so slow now It's taking only 15 kilowatt at 92 it Was starting to go really slow and there Are other people who want to charge here So I will not sit here for one more I

Will not sit there for 50 more minutes To get 100 so we would just go soon and This is awesome we have Google and we Have navigation that works over here so The so the car estimates we will arrive With 13 over there we have to go there Because that's a 125 kilowatt charger The other charger will give us only Around 75 kilowatt or 50 kilowatt so we Have to go for the LX Chargers so yes Live stream is up and running I guess we'll wait a little bit I have To shoot is it really 35 degrees Celsius Error Wait Okay I'm not sure what the heck happened There Uh maybe those guys press the stop Button I'm not sure but okay whatever We're gonna We're gonna leave now yes uh okay Whatever let's get going All right we are on the moon now so I Have joined the uh Thailand's right lane Huggers club Now but the traffic is kind of dense you See how freaking busy it is over here so Uh it's kind of pointless to drive Slalom like some Thai people do we just Chill here doing 100 for now but it's Going to be faster eventually yeah Consumption right now is 171 watt hour Per kilometer which is not too bad So um yeah and here we'll look at this

So now the the car estimates that we Belong with 19 Okay not too bad I already calculated That well that was with 100 we have a Budget of 220 watt hour per kilometer so I guess we started with 94 so we should Still have over 200 watt 100 kilometers Budget so I'm pretty uh confident we can Make it uh through that charger so um It's like a checkpoint uh Tesla made it There By the auto three made it there uh the Pussycat had the bailout before and also Had the Slowpoke the Pussycat was being Lazy so yeah but we have to be careful There by the way There is uh they call it the police Checkpoint they will uh laser you I've Been caught twice already but this time We will not Cruise more than 120 on the Speedo which is actually 117 DBS speed So and I'm now using um pilot assist and It's nice and comfy just like in Europe At least the roads over here are nice For now Foreign But we have some chart they are all Occupied so I actually need to deduct Time so it's 1540 and we will count how Long we stay here before we get that Plug we actually have to wait until both Plugs are available And here are the studs 210 watt hour per Kilometer to get here but by the way I

Made a small mistake and I I took the Wrong turn so we have to we have to Deduct five minutes the distance is Slightly longer but okay whatever but we Took five minutes Uh yeah but 210 what our Pokemon is Actually kind of high the B by the Auto 3 used around 180 watt hour per Kilometer 182 actually and then the Model y Rayville Drive spent only 168 Watt hour per kilometer wow so this car Is kind of thirsty okay here you see uh One car pulls out now but I need to wait Until both plugs are available because Now they are they are shared and I will Get shitty speed and it's not fair for The test So okay we just have to sit and wait I Guess and hope that no one else comes uh Yeah maybe I should block one yeah I Should maybe block one then yeah We're now charging the the big idea of The three was another FC I keep bumping Into people who know my channel so he Actually went to Diane Khan and he was On his way back home so he he watched my Live stream and he said he had enough Juice so he charged you only 60 and then He's off so I had to deduct eight Minutes fair and square okay so but now I will show you you see LX Chargers 125 kilowatt and we are Receiving 125 kilowatt oh yeah

So Um okay the model why Could also receive around 120 and Something kilowatt but the model y 'all that was a smaller battery could Not receive that speed for too long this One can so I estimate that we need to Charge 70 percent Um or maybe 65 I'm not sure 65 70 Percent And then we can make it there see I Already navigated the next one is going To be turn so we will actually go on the Same charges as the model 3. now that's Why the model y because we need the 125 Kilowatt charges so it just boils down To how fast this car charges then yeah So now I will see oh no no the nudes are Not ready yet they're the noodles I Guess we have to grab something over Here Right I had to buy some snack The food choices on this trip is going To be kind of poor because I have to Prioritize the test not the food I can Always chill with wifey once I'm in Chioma but actually it seems like the Noodle Shop is open but I don't have Time for noodles because this car judges Files like a boss at least for Thai Standards look at this even at 42 we are Still receiving 125 kilowatt oh yeah This is just what we need the only Problem is that it's kind of thirsty

This car is kind of thirsty but at least The flat charting curve helps us so yes Now we're just about to sit and wait wow It's 33 degrees outside maybe I should Show you guys outside here What it looks like yeah See we have convenience store there Max Mart is always open 24 7. we have some Coffee shop over there I'm not sure if It's open Uh Uh yeah and that's it pretty much So All right now I need to eat some snack Eating in progress and Past 50 it's not throttling but just a Gentle throttling so this is still Pretty good So yeah I think I'm gonna go for 70 Because actually I remember now the Volvo and the pole star who wants to Stay the charge drops below 10 it tends To go faster so it's not linear yeah so 70 there is We've been charging for about 26 minutes Now so it means that this charging stock Will be roughly half an hour yeah we're Almost good to go now still taking 80 Kilowatt at 67 that is decent But the core estimates we will write With 12 percent Of 14 now at 69 Um I'm not sure because this one tends To be a little bit optimistic

I might go for maybe 72 percent or Something or maybe I'll charge a little Bit extra just in case since I'm not Sure right now Oh Yeah We are now a little bit north of dark And over here we have nice straight Stretches and then a curve and then Another straight stretch and then Another course you're gonna see I'm Using pilot assist now you'll see how The car behaves Look at that this is not the first time It happened it kept doing this over and Over again so if you don't hold the Steering wheel it will actually just go Out of the curve and then crash and burn And die So um Yeah I noticed this many many times that The car simply cannot take the curve and It's not really that sharp curve So we're going to try again uh well soon Let me see uh where's the next one Okay it's over there so okay we'll Instruct something else so when we are Just going straight what happens then We're using pilot assist adaptive cruise Control The I'm not holding the steering wheel On the other hand is doing something Else So here we come to wait like that this

Is kind of gentle curve and then what You hear there is uh the when I'm not Holding a steering wheel because I don't Want to hold the stairwell when we do The chest because I might interfere with The steering input Here's another one maybe not that sharp What you're gonna do what you are this One okay now it handles better This one is better Don't want to touch the thing with yet But you see it has this jerky movement Got to touch the thing with the kind of Chicken and it has this jerky and real Movement and then it tends to hug this Side for some reason in Norway where we Drive on the right side of the road it Also tends to hug but then it hugs the The inner Side not the outer side of the curve so It's kind of weird how this car has been Pro programmed so okay it's not as bad As the Chinese car but not as smooth as Tesla or Mercedes We are now at the second and last Charging stop that's how we roll over Here so um yes we are now a turn Charging at the 125 kilowatt charger and We can check out over here this time it Seems like we are not receiving 125 kilowatt for some reason it seems to Be Yeah I don't know why but 123 only also The Car screenshots 140.3 Plus 150. show

You guys here Yeah okay I guess no big deal but we are Missing two kilowatt Well okay so um next stop is going to be Chiang Mai I can show you here see this Is this is cool and what you can do is You can do this you go here what you Zoom out a little bit this is Google you Know so just like you know in pole star And the other Volvos try so you're going To zoom in here roughly here I know it's Roughly here and then I just click on The charting station and then it loads Up and it shows you Hey wait no no no no It's supposed to be Over here somewhere There's a there's a bank Jack stage huh It doesn't find it hmm Wait wait I know it's it's neat here What is this No Whatever whatever okay it works most the Time just not now when I'm going to Demonstrate it And look here so I have trip manual and Trip Auto uh this one I cannot reset This one I reset in Bangkok and you see That earlier it was 210 something wasn't It 217 now so it means that on the last Leg we probably average more like 221 Kilometers wow This is a thirsty beast that's for sure Foreign

Where we have concrete surface this is Similar to the one we have in Falcon buying except for that it's a Bumpier here than the Falcon bike Concrete surface so um the suspension Here that's a pretty good job of trying To evening out the bumps so I'd say it's Um it's actually smoother than Tesla Yeah especially on this Lane here it Becomes kind of bumpy you can almost see The camera is bouncing a little bit so I'm not exaggerating it's actually quite Bumpy I mean it's so bump with us I have Problems reading stuff on the screen Here or yeah sometimes something I'm Gonna try to read some small letters That's how bumper it is over here so Um yeah I guess um yeah by the way let me see What's the time now 1929 uh we we have uh 13 minutes of Deduction so far it means that it would Be us if we started at 12 53 which means That we have now traveled for Roughly six and a half hours So are we going to be able to beat Tesla I mean we have a way bigger battery than A Tesla Model y standard range I have a Rabbit drive right We should be able to beat Tesla height Oh Example this car is quite thirsty the Consumption seeds Bangkok is 224 watt hour per kilometer

E-tron go home We are here we are here 19 where that Means seven 20. wait No no 725 okay 725 yes we did oh yeah All right I need to check the tire Pressure we have uh low tire pressure Here We'll find the hair in Chiang Mai so the Whole trip okay so it took 7 hours and 25 minutes which is actually 10 minutes Slower than the slowest Tesla available In Thailand which is the S uh well the The River Drive model y so um yeah it's Still quite decent now the reason why It's kind of slow is because it's Thirsty so and unfortunately in Thailand The the front wheel drive 69 kilowatt Hour is not available here it's just the Twin motor 78 kilowatt hour but okay It's still a very decent time and the Reason why I make these trips make these Videos is to show Thai people because Thai people they are skeptic to to Electric cars they'll be like you know They are so they are so focused on the Whole charting time and they think oh no It will take half an hour along with the Charge but when you think about it when You travel This far like seven hours you usually Stop with a fossil car anyway and then Eat something and then the car is not Doing anything so that's my point is

That with with an electric car you can't Actually travel long distance without Too much compromises And also another thing I'll show you is That over here you know normally I would End up here uh like like 10 or 11 or Midnight right and it's really quiet but Now it's um it's seven no it's 8 30. Yeah 8 30 and it is really busy here Almost like in the daytime yeah so all Right now I'm going to show you guys the Stats by the way Wow we're actually receiving 49 kilowatt Because um uh yeah because the voltage On this pack is fairly high and uh yeah So this is actually very good so we came Over 10 we're already at 16 And here you can see the stats so from Bangkok to here We average 224 watt hour per kilometer Wow okay oh this car is kind of thirsty But I knew that from Norway so this is Just a confirmation that if the car is Thirsty in Norway it is also thirsty in Thailand But okay so um the plan now is that um I Will not okay I need to charge a little Bit to get Back to chengdao but uh I'm hungry I Haven't had proper food today so the Plan is that I will go to the next Charger which is a bank Jack charger let Me see yeah yeah it found it it found it Volt charging station yeah yeah that's

It and over there there is a restaurant Well it's a it's a bar restaurant but It's open now it's opened it didn't mean Anything so then we're gonna chill and We can just charge while we are having Some food and that sounds like a good Plan Okay change your plans uh a follower Showed up he's actually a doctor so the Dog is here the dog is here and he has To start the CV he said let's go let's Go eat some nice food because I was like Okay he's been watching my live stream So he will drive me to a place nearby And we will have some food and we could Just let the car charge here it doesn't Matter how long we charge it so let's Let it charge it well let me just check Something here how long we join him we Can just let it charge here I want to Chill a little bit and eat properly Wait did it did it stop for some reason Wait I have to check here did it stop I think they stopped what oh you know From time to time it errors out let me Restart it This is strange It reports zero percent but 48 kilowatts And then if you look here Uh well if you look here You can see that when it's pulsating Green it means that we are charging and Then if we look inside the car We are in fact charging

So why the heck is the chart sure not Reporting it correctly Let me check again is it just lag no It's Well it's because it's the ABB they Always be broken charger okay whatever Let's go All right let me see so um we are now Getting shot oh look at that oh look at That over here so here's here's here's The doctor the dock yeah We almost wear the same uh collars let's See so he knows the stuff around here we Just eat oh yeah by the street yeah oh Wow Lots of goodies we have also soy milk Over there we can take a look oh yeah This is the white the way I like it Yesterday we're gonna have some street Food let me show you here we have soy Milk With patonco this is called oh they have This looks like no meat so and low Prices soy milk is only seven thoughts Which is like uh 25 Euro cents or Something really cheap okay so let over Here Let's see what is this uh Assume seems like neutral or something Yeah I'm not sure uh oh they have yum And stuff here yum and then over there That looks like noodles yeah that is Their noodle shop I'm gonna zoom in There you can see they are preparing the

Nudes over there oh yeah okay let's see What we eat So here's the food this is uh pork neck With this is lapisan oh yeah and some Sticky rice and then there's some some Sauce here so and then the live stream Is uh watching and then you see that we Are just eating by a busy roll this is The way I like it outside eating yeah Okay let's dig in I have a little bit of dessert well yeah This is actually Um a mix of um some soy milk with Ginger yeah ginger drink with soy in it And then here we have some bread with Pandan and that's also soy milk oh yeah I want to love the food but good food so Now we're ready to go back to chengdao So we stayed here over an hour well Actually with a bug joining session we Still have almost like one and a half Hour now so I think we have more than Enough juice yes let's go Boy then as always we are now on the Twisty part between Chiang Mai and Chengdao and you see this car has uh has Headlight that turns so I was like oh Does it have pixel lights apparently not Because it you put it on automatic and It's either on or off there is no Matrix Going on or anything like that but at Least The beams are turning so I didn't know That was also an option so you have

Either Dome lights or turning lights and then Pick the lights I guess So really nice and strong headlights and I don't think this car has any Um and a tint in the windows but I still Feel like the windows has some kind of Heat rejection because It doesn't feel that hot inside the Cabin when I was in the in yeah Bangkok Area So and then okay how about the driving Dynamics okay we have to drive faster Well this car just oh it pulls hard and You know some cars tends to be found Like some some electric cars they go Fast from zero to 60 kilometers per hour But then past 60 kilometers per hour it Kind of loses its oomph but here it just Pulls and pulls and pulls like a rock it Goes like a rocket so it's actually Quite fun to drive I feel like it's That way it is faster than the model y Long range it's like a model while long Range with acceleration boost something Like that So quite nice and snappy the only Problem is that you can you can actually See it when I floor it Is it the back end kicks I mean it goes Up so it's kind of It works a bit you know it's a little Bit both What is it high beam and then turn yeah

Oh but I like that they turned But it's fun to drive this it's still Quite it's quite Snappy I remember the First time I draw the the xc40 in Norway I was like oh it's um it's quite quick And fairly Nimble but still a little bit Bold but not too much bolt But more boat than a Tesla yeah model y But still good fun to drive And also when it comes to suspension Again Because it's kind of loose-ish sometimes I feel like sometimes it loses contact With the surface So so when you are on semi bumpy road Like here in Thailand or maybe other Places in the world Um Sometimes I feel like it loses a little Bit of grip because because the Suspension is not that that harsh it's Kind of soft but versus Tesla way okay It has harsher suspension Which is less Comfortable but for sporty driving then The model 3 or am I sorry the model y uh Is better in my opinion so but here I Mean it's still it doesn't It doesn't go that slow and we also have Pirelle P0 tires quite nice and sticky Tires so that's good I guess Right we're back now here in chiangdao Here so um came a little bit late but Yeah Maybe I should try to come here not too

Late but okay anyway it's still a nice Ride yeah so um uh yeah the the Volvo Made it at least to Chiang Mai fairly Quick and it's comfortable It's quiet it has good sound system good Seats a nice interior but okay kind of Thursday and then inside is interior Wise might be limited but that's what We're going to find out in the following Days I will take it I guess to the time See if it overheats I will drive with Wifey and Isabel and I guess also Mayo Really the typical Chiang Mai trip Sleeping Hotel go chill and then see how Everything fits in the car this car has A little front well that's tiny one so We'll see yeah we'll see how it works as A day-to-day Drive family car so we put The car through some tests now normally Or tests that I normally don't do in Norway we try to do it here yes so Anyway I'm gonna chill now for a bit get Some sleep and then tomorrow we pick up A BMV i7 oh yeah so that's gonna be it For now hope you guys enjoyed this video As always thank you for watching and Talk to you later okay

Electrifying New York – Connecting Electric City Vehicles to the Power Grid

If you’re thinking about buying an electric city vehicle, there are many factors to consider. There are differences in cost, range and charging. It’s also important to remember that the initial costs can be offset by federal and state tax credits and grants.

The Electrifying New York plan is designed to accelerate the transition to EVs by increasing public charging. This plan calls for a total of 10,000 curbside charging stations by 2030. In addition, it calls for up to 1,000 Level 2 charging stations by 2025.

Electrifying New York will help make New York City a leader in the EV transition. But the city needs to work with its partners, including the federal government, to ensure that electric vehicles will have access to the power grid.

One of the biggest problems is that the public charging network is already over-concentrated in Manhattan. There are few public EV chargers in the outer boroughs.

NYC DOT is working with partners to expand the public EV charging network. For example, the City recently announced plans to install 120 Level 2 charging ports in the five boroughs. These charging stations will be located in municipal parking facilities across the city.

However, despite these efforts, the current public charging network is still too small. That’s because the demand for electricity fluctuates throughout the day. During the evening, for example, there’s a higher demand than during the morning. Therefore, charging stations can overload the electrical grid.
