This video was brought to you by a Battery planner cam power Marcus Beale Steinberg and Bill componente Yo what's up behind me here I have the Volkswagen ID3 facelift and today we're Going to retest it and see how well I Can do it in 1000 kilometer challenge You might see a slight difference in the Front It has been changed slightly and you Know that thing over the hood it's now Gone So they have done Money Changes on the Outside oh we have the ID lights oh yeah They are wonderful and then in the Inside you see that We now have Better interior and less hard plastic Other than that the car more is more or Less the same So yeah Um We will prepare now I'm charging up I'm Getting 19 kilowatt I might want to go For 100 before we start it should finish With in in just a couple of minutes so Yeah The plan is to drive south I'm not sure Where I will stop first holy crap those Forces are so noisy when will they be Banned huh seriously okay So yeah I'm not sure where I will go I Will probably not be able to reach back How do I am I need to set this message
Uh like this okay okay oh the smoothness Of the map okay see here this is Wonderful man you could just do that Yeah you see an outline of how far you Can go really can we go specular Okay I want to see that okay okay okay Let's see let's find this back of the Way where's it where's it here Let's do it I can find him okay wow you Have to zoom in so far I could of course Search for it yeah okay okay the car Claims we can make it expected Uh let's see you see wait for it to oh Look look you finish charging Okay let's start at 11. let's go [Applause] [Music] [Music] Thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] We all know about hawks toy and I have 18 battery left and 45 kilometers of Range and then we have 47 kilometers Away from specular oh Oh oh Um uh can we make it there Uh because here is the Hulk's type and Yeah I've decided to go past it the leap Of faith okay Um either we go for speculate or we Could bail out at uh you must Chile Fortunately we have lots of charges on
This stretch so yeah but when I look at The car scanner cars can report that we Have around 10 kilowatt hour left okay 10 kilowatt hour divided by 46 kilometer Is roughly 220 watt hour per kilometer And in the past be average 220 watt hour Per kilometer So this will be a close one yeah we'll See should I go deep oh real deep oh Oh we are going for it we are going for Spectral the only problem is that I have 2.9 kilowatt hour left now And we are 16 kilometers away oh What the heck man uh we have to go deep The car claims that we won't be able to Make it Yeah so over here it looks like this The car claims have 14 kilometers of Range left and we have 15 kilometers Away Do I slow down no what do I do I turn Off HVAC Yes A B C always be cheating look at this we have minus 0.2 Percent battery wait huh really and then 275 Watt hours 150 watt hour left That's like a freaking electric scooter Ah I'm still two kilometers away there's The exit I slowed down a lot now Ah come on come on come on Come on Leroy Jenkins Ah no charge remaining charge vehicle
Now we have to pass uh Ghostbusters here Who you gonna call Okay oh Come on come on just roll in there roll In come on oh I have no no kilowatt Hour left we are running on the reserve Now It normally I wouldn't do this even for One thousand kilometer challenge this is Probably not a normal behavior for a Typical Volkswagen driver actually who Knows Wait how much power do you have wait how Much are you hiding below zero here you Know the ID bus which has a bigger Battery uh had 2.7 kilowatt hour below Zero What about the ID3 then Is really busy really busy look at that Traffic All the windows are fogging oh how much Power do you have uh wait wait you still Have still have 90 kilowatts you bastard All right all right all right let's go Over there Oh Speculum is a little bit busy I think There is one spot there come on come on Oh Oh oh okay we are just one minute later Than normal so we draw a little bit Slower Get over there but it's one at night and It's so busy over here oh is that
Ladder Style Should I say we got into ladder style oh Man what the heck Okay okay eight minutes past the one at Night Oh I made it here but then what what are You guys queuing up Uh What No that's that's a function okay that's A faucet Okay another Style Compt Man is the car gonna stop doing lot of Stuff Oh Mom we have five minutes in the London Style and none of the cars have reached 80 yet fortunately we have ionic five Over there he's been charging fairly Fast and yeah and id4 these are Norwegians by the way and also I did bus But um if I knew about this I would have Stopped at Jung's chill instead because There was no people at loomsila everyone Just won a gangbang speculative for some Reason and you can see that even the gas Station there's a lot of people lots of Norwegians also yeah I see Norwegian License but And the problem at night is that Circle K over here they usually have only one Toilet available I'm not sure if they Open up more they better open up more
Toilets because it's freaking crowded in There Oh uh yeah if I stop at Yong Sile I Would have stopped every 10 would still Be fine but now we are at minus point Six percent I need to join soon 12 minutes of leather style now and I Move forward I'm the next one out the E-tron got a spot there Uh now we have to wait and I brought up My salad oh look at this oh yeah Nice and crunchy salad Oh yeah we are charting uh the battery Cooled down a little bit during the Ladder style but it should not Colgate We should get 130 kilowatt so uh yeah I Need to write down we had a 22 minute Ladder style and it's still going man This is of course exceptional for for Summer holidays I see a bunch of Norwegians we have we have a classic Ionic we have a fat e-tron we have Another Fat e-tron we have another Fat E-tron and then this fat eatron here has Not charged yet it's been standing here Struggling for 10 minutes now and they Cannot start charging I would help them Of course but first of all I have to Stand by and get ready to move and Second is they have to go to the toilet Now because I calculated I need 45 which Is not going to take too long because You see we're taking yeah soon it will
Be 130 kilowatt so right let's um get Ready All right we're good to go we should Arrive with five percent at volume bag Which only 15 minutes All right and then yeah there's still Other style yeah I heard that the reason Why there's a lot of lots of Norwegian They were at the concert in Utah and They're going home tonight that's why Foreign [Music] [Applause] We are now advise and we came with five Percent and then Boom 123 kilowatt oh Yeah no cold gate here we arrived with 26 27 degrees so yeah all good next stop Is going to be let me show you here Yep it's going to be held in board as Usual wait ah what yeah that's 150 Kilometers away but I calculated that we Need to get 75 70 percent So that's going to take a while yeah Because this car doesn't charge that Flat at least not past around 40 50 Oh yeah I have a little bit more salad To eat but yeah I'm gonna show you Something here this is pretty cool You see that here we have Min temp and Max temp and the delta or the difference Between Min and Max temp is only one Degree Celsius Yeah Koreans you know Hyundai Kia take Note
Yeah or what was again uh yeah Toyota Also take notes this is the way to do it You control the battery temperature Evenly like this you see only one degree Celsius difference why is this important Because now we don't Colgate but we also Don't replicate So you will see that the battery Temperature will stay Very super even like this and it will Stay it will keep it below 50 degrees Celsius to not replicate too bad so yeah Man also Tesla even Tesla has slightly Higher Delta I've seen around four Degrees Celsius Delta but here only one Super impressive man this is why German Electro Autos are the best And you see this is way more normal Traffic or at the Chargers Well which is that one charger is kaput See that one is I can show you here And There's no light there and then this is Yeah but at least the other ones are Operational so yeah the the case when we We will deduct 22 minutes at the Previous stop because that was just a a Rare case of some kind of uh event going On yeah But okay so the this is the what the Heck man There's so many bugs here okay but this Is a dilemma do I charge here long Enough and then go straight to a Helsing
Body Or do I uh hammer yeah I could have Charged to let's say 35 percent And then gone for another Tesla charger Then in between and then chart but Whatever Um It has flat-ish charging curve so I just Need to wait a little bit more for 70 And then we go for it Yeah there's some progress at the Chargers you see they have dug a trench Probably to get power I suspect that They took some power from nearby there And here we have some kind of aisle Thing whatever where the charger will be And there's some fat cables here so I Suspect that this must be some high Power charges is it ionity What the layout looks similar to ionity I'm not sure Um yeah these are proper fat cables look At this holy crap Okay So we'll just uh follow the process uh How it goes Well we're almost done so this will be Less than half an hour stop but look Here we are down to 55 56 kilowatt but That's on the charger side what goes Into the battery is actually less 52 Kilowatt and then you see here that There's a three kilowatt going for AC For cooling but actually right now we
Have Uh 45 almost Um around three degrees Celsius Delta ah Okay so it is roughly the same as the Tesla then Yeah okay a little bit more and then off We go We are now in 120 Zone near valvark and Man it is so pleasant to drive a German Car here you know these cars they were Made for the Autobahn for going Schnell Yeah so right now the concert this is The total uh trip and then this is from When we left [Music] So 314 and it's a bit high but um yeah Oh it's 12 degrees outside Okay and now you can see the interior it Looks nice okay that's sorry for some Cables here it looks nicer than before What an upgrade but it's not so much Upgrade is that we don't have Autos There so I have the dry manually Um yeah You can pay extra so I assume to get Um travel assist then you have Autos There but this one no it's the poor Man's Volkswagen [Music] Thank you [Music] We're now at Helsing boy we came with Half percent left oh okay I can Show you here that uh oh no it might be
A yeah this was uh from uh wild back to Here 255 watt hour program Okay on the way back what I'm gonna do Is you can see here let's show you how Smooth this is yeah I will stop at Homestuck on the way back we will not go Direct And we will see try to ride on the Hundred and wait where is it Oh it's here try to ride on a hundred Kilowatt way right 120 um Wait where is it it's supposed to be Here somewhere yeah It's here but okay close enough Roughly there what okay it's not Important but close enough okay and then I need to do calculation and then Every time now you see super consistent No rapid gate no Colgate because it's Summer yeah this car supposedly does not Preheat before fast starting but it Tries to maintain the battery Temperature so yeah 130 kilowatt every Time Wait is it open now Um We have no it's still not Luke yeah I Think they open at six So yeah oh It's this bright outside five at night So now we just uh chill a little bit Um we have McDonald's over there but I Don't feel like oh you can see it I Don't feel like McDonald's food uh
Uh yeah on man littering like people Like dude people are just pigs really I watched a program yesterday no no Sorry it was not a program it's a YouTube video about the Coca-Cola and The plastic littering Uh you see here and When I watch it I realized that the the Problem with plastic bottle is not the Plastic itself it's it's the people Littering Yeah I mean you see over there you know This would not be a problem if people Use the trash bins Oh whatever there's like an impossible Uh battle Yeah okay anyway let me show you guys Here Oh yeah All right we are almost good to go I Calculated we need around 40 and we Should have five percent margin even so This is a 12 minute Trolley Stop on There oh wow previous stop was half an Hour maybe I should have split it in two Times 12 kilometers a minute stops but Then a little bit deep tour and minus The proverb so maybe the total time Would have been around 27 28 minutes Rather than 30 minute total Okay whatever let's go [Music] [Applause] [Music]
[Music] Oh yeah we arrived with two percent this Time and we're getting almost 130 Kilowatt again battery is nice and hot And yeah the cooling started so the Trick by the way with any mab coil it Could be IDE 3 id4 it's called the Antioch ID bus is that when you are Charging you want to turn off HVAC Because then you're not stealing the AC Compressor for cooling down the battery So this was the last leg by the way yeah So I need 40 again which should happen In just 12 minutes so by the hurry but Man again about littering holy crap man I don't know why this place is always So littered like a pink style look at This every time I come here oh Yeah I have no idea what happens here during The night but I tend to come here in the Morning but this is supercharger heaven There are so many supercharger stalls Here oh okay anyway I have to go over to Circle K we are really short on time now Because this car charges fast at the Bottom and it's fairly efficient [Music] [Music] [Music] We are now at the Royal bike we arrive At five percent not ideal but okay good Enough yeah look at this time the Battery is a little bit hot because we
Came here right after the 120 Zone so we Will see if it will replicate or not I Don't think so Still have the nice two degrees Celsius Delta between Min and Max temperature Yeah you see we get 128 kilowatt oh man It's super consistent no Colgate super Fairly fast at the bottom So yeah so far is it good next stop is Going to be speculative And that one is 107 kilometers away and This time we have to charge to 45 which Is I don't know about 12 minute charting Stop here right but that's good I need To clean the windscreen it's getting a Bit dirty [Music] Foreign [Music] Getting 130 kilowatt super consistent 30 Degrees Celsius in the battery And then the next stop is going to be a Storm start that's 118 kilometers from Here so I have to calculate once more Now how many percent I need probably Around 50 55 this time Okay uh you see this is what it normally Looks like at speaker No traffic almost no one here Uh almost no trucks we had no ladder Style And then just a couple of cars charging Yeah okay but uh oh I need to go to the
Restroom oh Yeah getting a little bit tired because I've been driving through the night Or well how is car doing car is going Great man super comfy quiet Um also quite efficient I think I Mentioned all this stuff before right Look here the the I don't know it's okay There's not they have this large Tower Sign here so yeah you can chart and Queue starts here then you burp over There yeah [Music] We are now at Hawks top the supercharger Is right behind us here and this is a Little bit exceptional I have to stop Here and take a nap because I'm so Sleepy I think I didn't get enough sleep Last night yeah and it's not safe to Keep driving for no reason so I would Recommend that we left the highway at Eight we're going to be running the Battery a little bit So I might also need to top up uh back Down to I mean back to around 30 yeah 36 Percent But I have to try to take a nap now At least 15 minutes I'm not sure but Yeah just for safety and also I Recommend other people if you're driving And you feel sleepy just pull over take A 15 minute nap and can make wonders Oh man I napped for a little bit over an Hour so you see when we exited the
Highway was eight now it's 9 20 but I'm Awake now I am away because the traffic Just started uh becoming more intense But okay so when we exited we had let me Show you here we had 20.5 kilowatt hours So we have to charge up on the Supercharger to bring it up to 20.5 to Make it as correct as possible Okay All right wow there's a lot of Non-teslas here okay well let's see now Yes we're adding which I kind of want to Read it there There You just have to bring it up to 20.5 Okay it's really quick okay okay yeah Let's disconnect now Okay 925 yeah we entered the highway at 9 25 so that we have a one hour and 25 Minutes Deduction now because of what is nap Yeah Short distance okay Wow Let's go the problem is that Now we have traffic Oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] We are now at jumpstart and here we have Leather style we're thinking hey but we Have six charges here and only three Cars yes but Three of the tritium Chargers are kaput
Yeah so we are only three stalls Available All right and we came here at 10 so now We have to count how many minutes it Takes before one of these guys pull out What they just happen to be only MD cars Oh yes we are judging getting 127 Kilowatt again so um we had four minute Delay here yeah and by the way yes I Deduct this one because this is Exceptionally High Uh we have summer holidays plus that Normally in three of these charges are Not supposed to be broken usually only One So because this is an irregularity if it Would come back here in one okay if We'll be here one week earlier or if we Will be here in four weeks after the Summer holiday is over then we won't Have this these delays that's why I need To explain this because otherwise people Are like oh Bjorn I love your videos but Yeah okay Um and also I have to do another thing I Have to do the convenient charger we're Gonna charge to where how much we need And then we look at how much we charge Extra just to get straight home yeah so Uh just wait for that one obviously go Back to this one you see Yeah one minus right now is that I can't Run the HVAC the cooling if I do it the Battery might overheat
So uh we just have to open the windows Or do something else to prevent it to Become too hot like open the door oh That helps of course We are back in Norway now and Fortunately for now at least it seems Like we don't have too much traffic Going towards Oslo seems like most of Traffic is actually moving south yeah These are the office rats not going to Work but going on holiday So um yeah I haven't been stuck behind Uh left lane Hoggers yet but the Challenge is all over so um yeah oh look At that on the other side holy crap man Um yeah so this part under reports Distance by 1.3 percent so we have to count down to 987 kilometers and it should happen at The same spot roughly at the same spot As as all the other times which is Around 2003 so um yeah let's see see Here we have a German camper And the next one here is also German Yeah license plate ol which the region In Germany is that So far so good Right here countdown a little bit late 9997 9998 Nine nine nine nine One thousand time 10 23 with all the Corrections now we spend ten and a half Hours and the consumption was Um 232 one hour per kilometer but we
Have to correct for uh 1.3 Under Reporting and one kilowatt hour spent so All right let's get back to Oslo Right now we actually stranded outside Of Ikea normally I'll be inside the Kia But I rather use by accident before I Expected it oh So but anyway okay so back to 1000 Kilometer challenge Um the old time was 10 45 and we Improved by 15 minutes 10 30. yeah uh It's probably because uh that was the Old one was the Norway route and this One is a Swedish route that's also why The consumption was higher but also um It seems like maybe around 10 minute Improvement because we have faster Charging now last time it was hovering At 100 kilowatt Max but I slightly flat The curve but this time 130 Max and then We were riding on around 40 550 which is Supposed to be faster so yeah that's how We managed to go faster and then I see That 10 30 is a legit time for a poor Man's Volkswagen it can match ix3 Whatever was in Winter or ID bus even Huh Once we are done we must start what the Heck man suddenly we are down to more Expensive cars even and the reason why This car did it so well is because it is Quite efficient yeah despite not Charging too fast no big deal as long as It's efficient yeah
So there you guys have it if you want to Travel fast and you don't have too much Money buy the Volkswagen so I think That's going to be it for now I hope you Guys enjoyed this video as always thank You for watching and talk to you later

What You Need to Know About Electric City Vehicles (EVs)
Electric vehicles produce fewer emissions, including ozone precursors and particulate matter, than traditional internal combustion engines. This results in improved air quality, especially in cities. EVs also contribute to reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and lower energy consumption, which further reduces GHG emissions and other forms of pollution.
EVs have distinct city and highway driving range ratings based on their energy storage systems. Unlike gasoline vehicles, whose highway efficiency typically exceeds their city numbers, most EVs have a higher city rating than they do on the highway. This is due in large part to the fact that they can recapture energy when decelerating, a process called recuperation.
Many automakers offer a variety of electric cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks that are well-suited to American road conditions. They have a range of prices, sizes, and features, but they all feature fast acceleration, ample passenger and cargo room, and impressive towing capacities.
The electric vehicle market is growing rapidly, and manufacturers are releasing more models each year. Deciding which EV is right for you can be difficult, but there are lots of resources to help you. Learn about the benefits of EVs and how they compare to gasoline-powered vehicles, find out more about EV charging and other factors that will affect your drive range, and check out local and state tax incentives for EV buyers.
New York-based startup Wink Motors is taking aim at the massive pickups and SUVs crowding our streets with neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs). Though they won’t win any races against supercars, these four models are street-legal as low-speed vehicles thanks to their National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-compliant batteries.
