If you’ve been thinking of getting an electric truck but are worried about the price tag, you’re not alone. There are several electric truck variants to choose from. You’ll find information on the energy efficiency rating of the Rivian R1T Large Pack, Towing and hauling capabilities, and more.
Ford EV pickup F-150 Lightning electric truck price hike
Ford will hike prices on its electric pickup truck lineup tomorrow, citing a “significant” rise in the cost of materials. Pricing for the least expensive 2023 F-150 Lightning Pro starts at $48,769 and goes up to $98,669. The price hike is not expected to affect Lightning buyers who have already secured an order slot. In fact, it won’t impact current Lightning reservation holders either. However, it will affect new Lightning customers. In the first year, demand for the Lightning was so high that Ford shut down Lightning orders several times. During the debut event, over 200,000 people reserved a Lightning, but only 4,400 units have been built since.
In the last year, Ford has put off taking Lightning orders for a few months, but recently reopened order banks for Lightning vehicles. The company also announced that prices for all Lightning trim levels will go up by between $6,000 and $8,500. The price increase mainly stems from “significant increases in material costs,” and inflation. The company says the increased demand for batteries is also a factor in the increase.
Rivian R1T Large Pack electric truck energy efficiency rating
The Rivian R1T Large Pack electric vehicle features a quad-motor system, delivering up to 147 kW of power. This gives you maximum performance in any situation. It delivers 3,500 Nm of ground torque per wheel, and 14,000 Nm of torque for the entire vehicle. Moreover, the R1T can reach 60 mph in three seconds and 100 mph in seven. It is also easy to drive on a flat surface and has a regenerative braking system.
The Rivian R1T features a member-only drive mode, allowing you to customize the driving experience. The vehicle will be controlled wirelessly over the air. Its range is 410 miles. With this energy efficiency rating, you’ll be able to travel far, without spending a fortune on gas.
The energy-dense battery module can add 140 miles to the vehicle in 20 minutes. This range will depend on the battery pack capacity, speed of charging stations, and ambient temperature.
Towing and hauling capabilities
Ford’s Lightning electric truck is equipped with a massive list of available features. For example, the Lightning’s touchscreen is easy to use and has a fast response time. It also has a reverse-gear feature and weighs the tongue weight of the trailer to help you load and unload it more efficiently.
The lowest-cost Ford Lightning starts at just $41,669 (including destination charges) and costs almost identical to its gas-powered counterpart, the 2021 F-150 XL SuperCrew 4WD. This base price is before any federal tax credits or incentives. Once the incentives have been applied, the fully loaded Lightning could cost over nine-thousand dollars, which is still expensive from a value standpoint.
The Lightning has a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. While the Platinum test vehicle only rated at 8,400 pounds, the standard Lightning has a payload capacity of about seven hundred pounds. When towing, the Lightning’s range drops significantly, which can be as low as 100 miles. The Lightning also features metal skid plates to protect the underbody of the vehicle.
Range
The F-150 Lightning is a new model that uses some Ford EV technology. Premium Lightning models include a 15.5-inch touchscreen with driving modes, electronic payload scales, and Blue Cruise. The truck also features Pro Power Onboard, which provides power to electronic devices. It also has several standard features, including hands-free driver assist and multiple 120-volt outlets.
The Ford Lightning has been developed over four years and debuted in May 2021. At its launch, the vehicle was presented in Dearborn, Michigan, by Ford executives. The company emphasized that the Lightning was intended for daily use by average Americans. Despite its futuristic styling, the Lightning is not for people who want a spaceship, a representative said.
The Ford Lightning pickup is offered in three models. The Lightning Pro starts at $46,974 while the other two have lower prices. The Lightning can be ordered from Ford directly or through a dealer near you. Ford offers direct financing and accepts trade-ins. Lightning pickups will begin being sold by dealerships and private sellers by summer 2022. However, the price tag is likely to increase considerably once the demand for the pickup reaches peak production in 2022.
