Left so I think I will measure two uh Things here I will measure the Consumption and whatever distance and Try to measure kilowatt hour based on That but also do the charging test Afterwards so that means that we will Drive a little bit back and forth here Now um cuz I'm close to the charger well Do I have a map here no do you have Navigation no but I just drive it uh low Is and then we try to calculate how many Kilowatt hour you have um 3 years ago we Had 50.9 KW hour let's see now how much We have Left we are now down to 9% and uh Suddenly I noticed that the cruise Control Disengaged so it seems like below 10% You cannot use cruise control yeah I'm Trying to enable it now it doesn't Work uh that's a bit Strange I mean Why okay but maybe I'll drive a little Bit more and then I'll bail out yeah 8% Now we are done D at cleavage super Doger and look here what let me see can You see the chit no there the average Consume was 222 wat hour kilm multip by The trip and then we have 4% left so That equals to 57.7 KW no sorry 47 47.7 KW hour we had 50.9 KW hour which means whooping 6.3% Degradation after 62.5 k k what that is freaking High man

He H so this is the first part of the Test second test is to charge and see How many kilowatt hour we get based on That one because the problem is that Maxus is a little bit weird when it Comes to showing consumption at least it Was for the mea 9 so the mea 9 uh the Problem was that um um there was a trip Meet there me just scroll through this Holy crap okay this one in the mea 9 I'm 99.9% Ure that it's I mean it appears to Be linked to the distance trip whatever But um uh I'm I have pretty strong Indications that um it's a rolling Average after I did 1,000 km challenge The consumption fluct way too much so Ideally we need to also drive this car a Lot I'm not sure if I'm keen on doing it And then but I will try to see also we Should see if the cap here is at 900 is At 2 299 wat hour per kilm also but um Uh we'll do the Charing test see if that Makes any sense and then if it doesn't Make sense and all when we could try uh To to see if there's this Chinese bug or Not um yeah but okay now I'll test super Charger I'll find a slot I can plug it In without Blocking uh something well look look There there is a Porsche over there huh What why is the Porsche charting here There's a hongi there there's a fat Eon There okay let's plug it In man look at this okay um a Tesla is

See there's a Tesla a Tesla is supposed To be parked like this with the charge Port on the left side and then this Thing here has a charge port in the Front which is a bad idea not only that But the charge port is slightly off Center so on a V3 and also V2 it becomes Quite cumbersome mean I try to park Close is if I go further forward that Will actually be worse because then yeah Whatever we need V4 look look at look at The way I park now and by the way yeah You know when I did made that video that Was Garden one the V4 uh many many People ask hey why didn't you go nose in Why didn't you go the other way around No the whole point was that I chose that Slot because because of the camera Position it was easier to place the Camera so so you don't have big ass V4 Stalls blocking parts of the view but The whole point is that in a situation Like this where you have plenty of cars Then you have to you must try to stay Within the lines because there aren't Other options you know your idea was why Don't you go that way well if there was A car there you couldn't use this space So you have to only use this space here That was my point but okay V4 will s Solve Everything yeah 28% and 46 KW yeah this This is Normal it was actually charting this

Slow also 3 years Ago all right we're back home we have 5% Battery left I'm going to plug in now And charge 100% And then will measure How much uh we pull from the plug and Then we have to Deduct um yeah I usually deduct 10% uh Some charging loss and some discharging Loss right new day new possibilities the Car has been fully charged okay so I'm Going to check out now uh there is no Indication that it's finished here but I Saw on EC that it has fin okay so Completed click on view session you see That uh we output 53.9 KW hour and from 95 to 100% uh if you do the math and Then the duct 10% uh charging loss discharging L That's um that's 51.1 KW hour it could Seem like we have no degradation in this Battery um okay so I'm not sure about This result I also um I'm a little bit Unsure if the trip meter shows correctly Because this is a boxus after all the Mea 9 has some weird Features um confusing trip meter so uh Let's take it on a spin again and test Retest it you see we are 100% and now The trip meter is 26.5 km and if you cycle through the Values here you see that consumption is 226 wat hour per kilometer so what I'm Going to do now is that okay yes I drove Mostly at 90 km per hour on the test

We're going to do again but drive faster On the motorway and um we will not reset The trip we will not reset this one so We just calculate how many kilowatt hour This is and then we drive another cycle And then we see uh what the numbers Tells us if it makes any sense or not we Are now at chess mosa and uh yeah this Is quite interesting and just as I Suspected you see um the consumption has Gone up quite a lot and we have D driven All only 15.6 km yeah if you look at This trip now versus earlier so um um This means that uh if if this was uh Based on this distance we would have Spent around 69 KW hour now since we Started the test uh yesterday this means That uh most likely now I'm 99.9% sure That uh this trip meter is not based on The distance it's based on uh a rolling Average which is just like the other Maxus yeah the maxus me for nine and Also most other Chinese cars uh we can Now turn back and Drive slowly back Downhill and we will see how much this Fluctuates then okay look look we drw Now down the hill from shes mosha uh Just a couple of kilometers and you see That the consumption suddenly dropped to 242 W hour per km this flates way too Fast if it was uh that distance so I'm Guessing it must be maybe 50 or 100 km Interval uses for the last 50 or 100 km We are now at oan back in the city and

Uh yes as expected consumption is 216 Again but this means that the Measurement I did 3 years ago is Incorrect back then I didn't have that Much experience with Chinese cars and They didn't know uh how to interpret the Data in the instrument uh cluster here And yeah but then okay but what we can Do we can look at the charting session We had three years ago Di so uh that one We gained 41.9 KW hour that was from 10 To 90% And then on DC charging we can uh Deduct roughly 5% or losses and that Becomes 49.8 kilowatt hours it still Doesn't make any sense because based on The Chic test today we supposed to get 51.1 KW hour so actually this is Actually this is quite hard because uh Since we don't have an accurate trip Meter and consumption data then I cannot Measure sure uh accurately how it is so This is actually a failed test I cannot Figure out how much degradation we have One way that could have worked is that Yeah if we went to the same ion charger Or actually whatever but for example I Charger and then charge from 10 to 90% We can then look at how many kilowatt Hour we uh input or how many kilowatt Hour we got from the charger and then we Can try to uh estimate the degradation But I think the problem or I mean the The purpose of this video is to show you That uh some Chinese cars are freaking

Buggy and hard to understand and also This means that many other people who Tested this car um they might not have The correct uh uh consumption numbers When I Google about the mox's E deliver I was looking for some some specs B fing And tested it and the headline was that Oh this is a very efficient van well is It efficient because if they did a test Cycle where they for example went uphill A little bit in the beginning and then Towards the end they went downhill then Yeah it would appear as it would be Quite efficient and if it was another Way around if the test cycle went Downhill first and then towards the end It went uphill then it would appear to Be quite thirsty so you know I think the The takeaway from this test is uh that Uh you you have to ABC always be Critical to what you see on display on Any car really not only but especially Chinese cars but also other cars might Have uh stuff that doesn't make any Sense for example you guys remember the Toyota B set 4X that one appeared to be Quite thirsty because for some reason Toyota decided to show you consumption Numbers including charging loss which is Not like the rest of the car industry Does and then they Chang it to show what The other cons manufacturers did and Then okay then it turns out that the b4x Was not that thirsty after all so yeah

That’s why the city of Seattle and other cities and states are urging drivers to consider plug-in models when buying their next car or truck. They’re also trying to help people understand how the vehicles will impact the local power grid, and what they can do to support sustainable energy production.

The first thing most shoppers focus on when considering an EV is its EPA-rated range. But there’s much more to know about an EV than that number, including its efficiency and the availability of public charging.

For example, the slick-looking Porsche Taycan sedan has an impressive EPA combined rating of 246 miles, but its base and GTS variants use far less energy in the city than on the highway, and they have lower city range ratings than their rated numbers.

Another issue is the fact that electricity demand fluctuates throughout the day and peaks in the evening, when many of us return from work and turn up the air conditioning or cook dinner. If everybody starts driving EVs, the surge in demand could overwhelm the grid. That’s why some utilities are working on vehicle-to-grid technology, where electric cars can store surplus renewable energy during low-demand times and deliver it back to the grid when they need to recharge.
