EVs are expensive, but government and automaker incentives can significantly reduce those costs. It’s important to look beyond the sticker price when comparing prices, and to consider local and state sales taxes and other purchase aids. It’s also worth considering a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), which operates mostly on electricity until its battery is depleted, then uses gasoline to extend the range. Some PHEVs are also available with full roadside assistance programs, which can include towing to your house or a nearby charger.
