This video was brought to you by a Battery planner cam power Marcus Beale Steinberg and Bill componente Yo what's up we are now in Oslo getting Ready for one Epic 1000 kilometer Challenge this is a real challenge with A 10 year old Leaf 24 kilowatt hour with Around 35 degradation we have shitty Rains and shitty joining speed here so I'm now getting ready uh it's at 98 it's About to finish it's taking 2.5 Kilowatts wait can we press here and see Okay whatever so yeah and uh this is the Deal we're gonna drive quite far we will Drive the Norway route uh yeah let me Show you in the back I have Two ecoflow batteries with me and a Heater I'm gonna cheat as much as I can So you see here if I click this one here Oh not that one this one I can then fire Up the heater it's either one kilowatt Or two kilowatt I've run it at one Kilowatt so I will remotely control that One via the app I have done charting uh Some shuku extension cords here some Adapters for midtron and Eva Cobble here And in the front voila And okay I'm not gonna fire up the car Now because it will actually wait let me Just do that and then stop the HVAC okay I can do this one okay but you see Here's the deal we have Well ideally when we are fully charged We will have 14 kilowatt hour and that
Means we can only drive around 70 Kilometers for the first leg and then For the following legs we need to charge Around 50 and then it goes dog slow so I'll come back to that so here is the Map the ancient Japanese Secret We will just drive the Norway route And then we try to finish this within 24 Hours right Oh look at this the car estimates We have 92 kilometers of range uh okay I'm not sure about that But it finished charging it finished Charging and only 13.4 kilowatt hour What happened to the 14 kilowatt hour Uh okay whatever this is what we have to Deal with all right let's go A rugby off the time is 10 32 but there Is a bit of style here so I have to Start the clock once we passed the style There is some Road Works going on So oh yeah wait can I even get that wait Did they block that side oh uh well It doesn't matter but I could just take An alternate route Yeah it seems like they blocked the Regular route I'm supposed to take Okay I'll just have to take a slightly Different route and no problem And then we just start the clock right Around here ish All right now we're on the regular route I have to cruise at 97 kilometers power
On the speedo which is 90 GPS speed it's 90 Stone here but I can't go too fast Because one other concern I have is the Battery temperature we started with Almost 20 degrees Celsius eventually the Battery will replicate and I heard that It's supposed to take only 11 kilowatt Once it is boiling over so we will see How that goes but okay for now it's like This all right Uh do we have only 50 kilometers of Range left Um yeah that is possible we have 10 Kilowatt hour left here so uh yeah Um We have to see but we have plenty of Charges on the way so I don't have to Worry about that once the once we get a Little bit low on juice we can just plan Our stops as we go We have been driving for 70 kilometers Now 71 no yeah the the distance here is Uh correct we are passing by Riga and we Just decided to skip bigger now we have Six kilometers of range left and we're Going for a place called Zodi four Kilometers away we have to go deep at Least the first few times you see we're Down to two kilowatt hour or something Oh wait it's fogging it's fogging No oh why is it fogging I think it's Because I'm sweating that's why oh Okay we're gonna bail out here soon Oh it's in the state where it doesn't
Show you range anymore but I can see Here that I have 1.9 kilowatt hour left There's some bow Stella ahead oh Wait don't tell me that you guys gonna Close the roll there I need to exit here Windows are fogging my battery is low I Need to charge here Oh yeah we are not Jordan getting 41 Kilowatts I better enjoy this while I Can because I don't know how long I will Get it oh So we are charting fast for now yes and The next stop is going to be the end Point I think yeah I think I should go 35 I'm not sure but there's also some Detour here they've closed parts of E6 But I think it doesn't matter for the Leaf we don't need to detect anything Because we need to charge slow kind of Slower I mean drive slow anyway so yeah Let me show you that we are now at um This is a place I almost never go to This is McDonald's over here there's Some charger that one is kaput I think So I'm just hanging out here So this is one of very many charting Stops and then we have to take a detour Here with some slow driving supposedly All right Uh we charge for almost 11 minutes and Believe it or not we are colgating the Temperature and the battery is too low So we're turning slower than we should Um so what I'm gonna do is leave now and
Drive only 19 kilometers and go to the Next one Okay so there's some detour here seems To be in both directions oh so uh yeah Normally I'll be cruising at at least 90 Kilometers per hour now we're going dog Slow I mean the leaf needs a bit of cool Down anyway right but this is a bit too Slow wait where are we supposed to go This way I think we're supposed to go this way Yeah So I'm not sure how much I haven't Counted exactly but this might be let's Say a two minute detour or slow down Oh yeah now we're cooking seems like 30 Degrees is the optimal temperature we're Getting 46 kilowatts We are back in the game after driving Only 95 kilometers Well well let's see how long it lasted So I chose this location because we have Plenty of 50 kilowatt charges with China More and also we have McDonald's that is Open well oh they close at one Where was the time now okay good good Because the next stop is going to be I Mean the gas station close but at least The charges are open which is a Turnaround point What I went to the restroom I came back And we have this 21 kilowatt ah it's Still colgating well okay whatever no Problem
And we have enough to go to the next one So let's go Wow this is interesting okay I got a low Battery warning 10 kilometer range 11. But it seems like the battery Temperature doesn't go up that much huh It's 15 degrees outside it seems like we Almost hit equilibrium where the Temperature stays at around 30 degrees Or it wants to cool down to 30 degrees Huh I wonder if this battery doesn't Call it's like it doesn't replicate that Much Okay we will see in a couple of joining Stops what happens Wow look at that we're getting 48 Kilowatt A 10 year old car man charges this fast Oh man this is awesome I need this Look at the flag there I don't know if you see it we had Headwind on the way here the consumption Was 100 over 180 watt hour per kilometer Which means that on the way back now we Can ride on the Tailwind So yeah uh this location uh is closed For the night but they have not Luca but I don't think I need anything yet and we Will have plenty of stops anyway so yeah It's getting quiet now the leaf is Getting hotter and hotter so for now It's uh fast All right next stop is going to be Solely 31 kilometers away from the
Previous stop And that will take roughly 20 minutes But we only charge for eight minutes Okay so far so good the car now Estimates we will have 22 kilometers of Range uh okay I just trust what I see on On leaves by instead is that 6.1 Kilowatt hour Oh yeah I can see now that the battery Is slowly heating up into the optimal Battery temperature until the rapid Gates okay so this is it we have another Eight to ten minute charging stop here And then we go for the next one A little bit clumsy of me I lost a Couple of seconds because first I pull Up one of those Chargers and then I Realized that though they are CCS only So we only have two Chargers over here That's a charter Mall fortunately I'm Doing this at night I would imagine the Frustration if someone else used the ccs Here and then I can't use the charmable Okay a nice location with Cam power uh Finally I can get to the gas station and Go pee and this one is open 24 7. We're passing by now this is the only The charger I can't use them this is Tesla Supercharger I can't use them I Have to only stick to charge them all But this time we're actually going 40 Kilometers when I unplugged I had only 17 kilowatt but I think it pays off Because
We want to go for maybe 40 kilometer Legs if we can at least when we have Tailwind so we minimize the The Detour Time and the plug-in unplugging and all That stuff that takes time every time You stop for a charge so yeah so far After almost three hours we have done Only 163 kilometers oh Uh it's a bit cold outside 13 degrees so I have to crack the window slightly open To ventilate a little bit because I have HVAC off And I use ecoflow right now to heat up Yeah I get some heat blasting in from Behind there Wait what the heck this car is a CD Player and there's a CD in there Try what's this What the heck is this [Music] Huh Is this even music It must be from the previous owner [Music] All right as usual we get 45 kilowatt oh Yeah I'm gonna enjoy the time when we Have uh not the replicated battery yet No I don't know if this is a coincidence Or not but we have been charging what Almost exclusively at the recharge today All of them I think so yeah okay but Eventually we're going to go for some Other charges but for now yeah nice Location right by the highway pit stop I
Like it and this time we managed to Drive 48 kilometers let's see then maybe We should try to go around 40 50 Kilometers within each between each Charge this is better than expected Initially I thought we had to go only 30 Kilometers we need any charge but yeah The ecofold now has been discharging a Little bit But we still have plenty of juice let me See can I go on this side instead you Can see so you see we have AC over there But it's too far away for me to hook it Up but I have 89 percent On this one and I still have 79 percent On this one so we have plenty of heat Yet so no need to charge them up Passing by Tuesday freed and yes I think We found a good Pace now so uh yeah we Are trying to get around 40 50 Kilometers between each charge charging To roughly 65-70 percent battery is Getting a bit hot now but hopefully it Will cool down During this leg and also this one I can Show you here uh what should it's a bit Bright there we are going to pass Through Oslo now And then we'll charge at 11. We are now at the Shell sorry we have to Stop here a little bit we stopped here At 2 32. I heard some ground grinding
Noises from the break it could just be a Rock in the brake Shield but we have to Inspect what's wrong so this is just for Safety and we will just stop the clock For a bit Let's see I have my thermal camera out Here we can inspect and see if there's Anything abnormal Um the break here seems Okay Um visual inspection looked okay what About on this side Um Yeah I wonder if it was a oh what the Heck No that's fine wait where is it Calibration Why does this one look a lot hotter than The other ones You see there In comparison and then here This one for some reason looks colder Is there something wrong with the brakes Here But then I should see it I mean I should Feel it right you don't want to know it No it's not hot it's not hot alone Okay so I suspect it's just a break oh Sorry just a rock in the brake Shield Which means we can just continue Except for that I feel like I have a bad Stomach since I already stopped here I might have to go to the restroom Oh yeah we still get 45 kilowatt
All good yeah we want to go semi-deep Like now 10 all right Look I fellow Leaf body We camp on 150 kilowatt charge each yeah Right McDonald's wait Oh I think this is open let me go visit It this is Oscar by the way wow we Stopped so many times now oh And that's okay We are passing by drama now and uh yeah It's getting bright outside it's now Three well you can see it here also yeah Almost four at night but you see the Battery was at 50 degrees Celsius when We left it has already cooled down to 48.7 so I heard that this battery is so Small that Only has lower Mass or something but it Cools down relatively fast so maybe we Can avoid the rapid gate too much we'll See we'll see right now it's 12 degrees Celsius outside which is probably a good Advantage for getting some passive Cooling We are now at uh holmestron this is just Raymond over here but this is pretty Cool I'm going to show you guys so yeah We are now double penetrating the car Right now we are charging on Charter Mode nothing I can show you here try Them all foreign Oh yeah 47 kilowatt oh this car likes The Heat But not only that we are using AC this
Is the Metron adapter And it takes type 2 and creates a shuko And then we are charging the Eco flow I've been running the Eco flow now Through the night and it was getting Low-ish so it's easier to look in the App so I have the ear cover up running Here let me see You see that we are at 54 on the main Battery And then the slave battery is at 72 Percent so now we are inputting uh Two kilowatt so we're charging up the Eco flow yeah you have to use all the Tricks to get as low consumption as Possible actually not through the Challenge we have been getting roughly 160 Between 150 and 180 so roughly 160 170 Watt hour per kilometer average that's Uh not too bad man but we had to drive Slow 90 kilometers per hour normally When I drive 1 000 kilometer challenge I Would obviously drive way faster than That we're usually cruising at 120 130 Kilometers per hour so yeah now we camp Here for a little bit since this is the One one of the few places where I have AC next to DC then I might want to stay Here maybe around Uh 15 to almost 20 minutes before I Leave We're on the move again Still cold outside but I have been
Charged up The ecoflow I think I Input around four uh what a 400 watt Hour it was only a 15 minute Johnny stop But the battery is getting hot now 51.7 Degrees I thought it was starting to Replicate towards the end so um Yeah we'll see if we can try to cool Down the battery now but you see we have Only done 314 kilometers oh we are not Even halfway and we spend five and a Half hours so far Is this gonna take 20 hours really Oh okay We are now judging still getting 44 Kilowatts at 50 degrees there oh But for how long oh I'm not sure because On the last leg we drove 47 kilometers And we lost only one degree Celsius in The top there or all people are saying Now in the live stream that it's about To replicate Okay well uh it's still good for now so Um right Wow look at that Is Plenty of charges but look at here Circle K man they are not delayed They're not playing around they have Plenty of Um 300 kilowatt hyperchargers now and They also ditch AC because they probably Figure out that the people don't care About the AC and it used to be some 50
Kilowatt uh gear and contact charges Here but Circle K they have realized That this is the future They go for Chargers high power chargers And then they attract more customers Like me and then I can go and buy a Burger or something here Oh yeah I bought some mod pocket from Circle K Look at that a lot of salad healthy Stuff oh yeah and then is it here you Can see the timer on top there wait Yeah just a little bit You can see the timer that we have Charged for 12 minutes only and we're Almost good to go it started throttling A little bit now but uh yeah no problem We have been riding on 40 30 kilowatt For a little bit So um I just have to eat one slice of Bread and then off we go again Oh oh now we don't oh shoot 17 Kilowatt now oh We are now on one of the new new Motorway stretches getting close to Bombra now the Sun is up Some clouds but uh yeah it's still 12 Degrees Celsius last night when I Started it was 16 degrees but then it Cooled down during the night so I've Been running the ecoflow a lot So yeah but as usual we go deep we have Seven kilometers of range left 3.2 kilowatt hour left
And then we'll charge again soon Oh we are replicating now it is Real Every time we arrive the temperature is Just slightly higher than the previous One it keeps crawling up and up and up It drops a little bit while we drive but Then it goes up again while we charge so Yeah We have hit the limit now we don't see 40 kilowatt anymore but at least we see 35 for a little bit right Okay this is it it's game over

Electric City Vehicles Cars Power
Electric City Vehicles Cars Power
A growing number of new cars are all-electric and draw their power from the electricity grid instead of petroleum fuel. They’re referred to as battery electric vehicles, or BEVs. They are designed from the ground up to be electric, rather than being electrified versions of a conventional car, and often offer longer ranges than their gasoline-powered counterparts in a given class.
They also tend to be more efficient, with better MPGe ratings than conventional gas-powered cars. In addition, EVs typically cost less to operate than their fossil-fuel-powered counterparts to drive the same distance, thanks to lower per-kilowatt costs for electricity in most states. And many come with tax credits that help ease initial sticker shock.
Among the best of the new breed of BEVs is Porsche’s slick-looking Taycan sedan. Its 93.4-kWh battery pack allows it to achieve 246 miles of EPA-rated range in its base and GTS guises, which make it one of the most fuel-efficient models on the market.
Another potential benefit of some EVs is their ability to provide backup home or grid power during a blackout. Experts have warned that frequent usage of this feature could degrade the batteries, reducing the amount of time a car can go between charges. But several manufacturers have plans to sell their BEVs with this capability as a way of touting the cars’ versatility.
In downtown Detroit, for example, workers will soon begin laying down the country’s first public electrified roadway, where drivers can charge their EVs wirelessly as they drive or wait in traffic. It’s part of the city’s effort to comply with California’s ZEV mandate, which requires that a percentage of vehicles sold in the state be zero-emissions vehicles.
