Electric vehicles produce significantly fewer greenhouse gas emissions than traditional gasoline-powered cars, helping to reduce the climate change impacts of transportation. Moreover, because of their relatively low operating costs, EVs are a more economical choice than conventional cars.
EVs have a range that is comparable to, or even exceeds, the range of a traditional gasoline car and can recharge in about half the time it takes to fill up with fuel. PHEVs, on the other hand, combine a petrol engine with an electric motor, allowing them to be driven at speeds and in conditions that would otherwise limit the driving range of a pure electric car.

While the Detroit Three may be synonymous with the US car industry, they are each committed to building a future that is entirely electric. GM recently announced that they are phasing out ICE vehicles completely by 2035, while Ford recently separated their EV business from their traditional Blue brand and focused on expanding its electric car offerings.
GreenLatinos, Hip Hop Caucus, Sierra Club, Clean Energy for America and other environmental groups are committing to launching Route Zero in April 2024, a national campaign that will educate millions about how easy, affordable and amazing it is to drive electric, especially for communities most harmed by pollution. The campaign will also seek to extend the benefits of the Bipartisan EV Infrastructure Law and support policies that spur domestic battery and electric vehicle (EV) production, including incentives for electrifying heavy-duty vehicles like school buses.
