This video was brought to you by AED Ro Planner Camp power marus be storb and B Componente yo what's up we're now in Front the house and behind me here you See Volkswagen id4 GTX it's Branch Banking new and I'm going to test now The battery capacity you know Volkswagen They adverti that it has 82 KW gross Capacity which is the whole battery and Then 77 KW hour net capacity but can you Get 77 KW hour from it well I I I know We can't get it but we're going to find Out how many kilowatt hour can get from The brand new car so yes I picked it up Um actually several days ago I've been Driving it a little bit but not too much So I'll show you the setup is that I've Been running the heater okay I can turn It off now been running the heater Through the Night 2 Kow so the garage Here uh unfortunately it's not insulated But at least got a little bit of heat in Here and you see that the battery has Been charged 100% it's actually at 21 to 25° C and the car claims 73 okay car Scanner I mean car scanner claims 73.6 Kow hour wait that's not 77 kwatt hour That's not even 74.5 kwatt hour that I Got earlier so um yeah we need to verify If this is correct or not because I've Seen in some other cars that um yeah I Think that was the Korean cars again Cars kind of same app but then uh I Think it was in uh maybe e six or ionic
5 I don't remember exactly which car it Was but the claim kilowatt hour here was Actually lower than what you can Actually get out of it so okay now we're Going to see um yeah you see it it's Sorry it's a little bit bright see we Have now 590 km on the elometer that's The claim range 100% so we will just Start driving north now okay it's a bit Cold outside tonight but today but Whatever let's go we have to reset a Little bit stuff here yeah one thing That um I need to do every time since The car for some reason doesn't show you Decimals here in these trip Meters uh you have to go to status and Then here is the odometer here is Distance covered you can reset this one And this one will show you uh decimals Okay and it's a white car uh still okay Let's go right we're on the move so We've been driving for a while and we Now at Cleavage so yes I'm cruising at 93 on uh Speed here which is 90 GPS speed I don't Want to drive too fast if I hammer too Hard the discharge rate will be higher And then there will be more heat loss so Yeah so far we have 214 wat hour per Kilm so what we do by the end is we take Distance multiply by consumption and Find out how much we spend that is of Course including this charging losses so Um yeah uh since we are here I'm going

There you can see the wind is from the North we're heading North now so um yeah For this test I will just follow the Regular uh route uh more or less uh turn Around at uh well actually normally I Turn around at the R I might go a little Bit further uh yeah until uh Mo and then Turn around so so far now consumption is 194 it need to stabilize uh the the yeah The consumption on Flat Road here should Be lower than that we had some higher Consumption because of uphills from uh Aru so um yeah now we just here we don't See any power in for whatever but we can See it here that when we are cruising on The flat we are consuming around 20 Kow Now it should be less than that we can Actually do the ma so if you assume that We have let's say 200 wat hour per kilm And we cruise at 90 that is an average Of 18 KW and if it's lower than that so Maybe roughly 15 KW and then 15 Kow of Average power uh versus 75 KW hour Roughly as me see that's um so we are Roughly pulling around 2 C discharge so The lower C rating you discharge that The less Le heat loss you Have we are now at Mo this is um yeah at least this is the End of the mo M way for now until they Build a new one uh one day in the far Future so yeah here you can see that Normally I don't uh go to this point Because it becomes uh a 90 Zone and then
A 70 Zone and it's a longer D2 I mean Yeah slightly longer detour and turn Around so for range test uh the average Speed will be a little bit lower Especially if we go 120 test and yeah Also yeah nowadays I'm also doing 1,000 Km challenge in Norway because of uh the Landslide in St near Spec so also when I do those challenges I turn around at Roga but it's a nice change to come here Since this is not a strict test uh for Speed or consumption or anything they Also have C power here by the way at Shell yeah recharge have C power Everywhere plus other brands also you Start using C power like and I think Even Avid wasn't it Okay now we go back South we are now at Minon and oh the Wind must have changed Direction right now we have headwind H Okay well maybe that's why the Consumption is a bit High you see 186 Wat hour per Kilometer and yeah how strong is the Wind you can see on the wind Sock all right so temperature is now 6° C yeah we just keep driving um I'll Probably Drive to cleavage before I turn Around see the car makes an outline of Where it can drive Roughly all right we're now getting Close to nean and uh the batter is low
15% now gum claims you have 61 km of Range left and we want to go back to uh Oslo a um the car estimates we went up With 1% H okay well hopefully we can Make it there otherwise I have to bail Out before all right we're done with the Test and here here we have the result 398 km 180 wat km 2% left or actually More accurate 3985 km and then car scanner reports 1.2 KW left so if we do the math we get only 72.9 KW hour really uh I mean this is The most accurate result we have we can Cross check this by charging up the Battery and see how many kilowatt hour We use but uh okay I'm not going to do That but It seems like we are nowhere near the Claim 77 KW hour and not even close to The 74.5 I managed to get before I have Videos about this where I measure it to Be 74.5 but that was what say was that Id4 or was it uh ID bus but it it is the 82 KW battery so it could be that maybe Volkswagen they have changed the Software and made less energy available And then some people claim that H but B It's winter time it's cold it's winter So that's why you are getting less Kilowatt hour available but really I'm Not buying it because um uh many many Other cars I tested uh it is consistent Regardless of if it's winter or summer
Uh how many kilowatt hour you get out of It how many how much range you get out Of it that's a different story because See today even cruising at 90 we average 180 in summer we can average around 160 Or 70 wat hour per kilometer Okay uh ID software yeah uh which Software do I have John carb be like What id Software h no my bad was it wrong place Um I thought it was there set settings Um um system information this is one Yeah I'm not sure uh I can't see all This because of all the fingerprints so Um yeah I don't know which version we Have okay let's plug it in okay let me See the battery is a bit cold after the Slow is driving so yeah we're taking Only 72 Kil oh no it could be because we Are sharing yeah we have a hyper hyper Charter there and we're sharing with the ID3 here so yeah okay wa what no no wife Is calling me incoming Call okay we're back home now and yeah We're going with the family extra Content family stuff so yeah Isabelle is Hungry the little princess she's 17 Months old now yeah she's getting big She's a big baby she's a Big a [Laughter] Best yeah when she says that what it Means No

More but that's the zero buffer below Zero and I also measure it in the ID bus To be 2.7 kwatt hours some people claim It's 3 to 4 kilow hour but they haven't Actually tested it they just claim it From somewhere but I tested it it was 2.7 kwatt hour so even if you add the um 73 something kilow it become 75 Something yeah but I mean do they count Uh buffer plus the net capacity or down To zero uh for the 77 U maybe they do But but anyway my point is that when I Tested ID bus earlier I got well that I Think that was a year ago or something I Did actually get 74.5 something 7 over 74 Kow hour today it was more like 73 Kow hour so um yeah I'm not sure what to Say at least I did the test and then It's up to you guys maybe to try to Conclude something but today I cannot Conclude anything so that's going to be For now I hope you guys enjoy this video As always thank you for watching and Talk to you later

The Renault ZOE, for example, is a compact electric sedan that is well-equipped with features like rear parking sensors and a system to steer the car into bay and parallel spaces. It’s also designed to be used with a rooftop solar panel to further reduce energy consumption and costs.

While EVs are popular in many cities, the expansion of public charging infrastructure is needed to help ensure that the electric grid can handle more vehicles. A key concern is avoiding “peak demand” during the day, when electricity is most in demand and utilities are working to ramp up production as much as possible. Some experts have pointed to electric vehicles as an opportunity to reduce peak demand through vehicle-to-grid technology, which allows the cars’ batteries to feed back to the grid as they charge. Some utilities, such as Pacific Gas & Electric in California, are already using this technology to store surplus renewable energy for customers’ EVs.
